Southlinks Volvo B8RLE

Post by Madbus »

I have only seen Southlink's Volvo B8RLE (2451) once or twice come past, but my question is why only one of them??!! The same question goes with 2452 Mercedese-benz O500LE, and 2453 Bustech Cummins-ISL. Please let me know if you know anything about this.

I suspect they are for evaluation purposes for when the contract with Scania finally expires, and Adelaide becomes flooded with real washing machines on wheels.

In my opinion, modern Volgrens have too much noise insulation compared to the early 2000 built Volgrens.

I see. I was starting to think maybe that is why.
I like your new avatar, by the way, A nice fine Scania K280UB by the looks of it.

Re that weird image, it's the lovely 1958 sitting at West Lakes on one of Port's 'premium' services (one that never has a Volgren, NL202s or anything undesirable dispatched to it). User TT would know what I'm referring to here! I just wanted to see how long it would take for someone to notice.

Anyhow, are these trial buses out on weekends much? I notice that it's mostly CB80s on Cityfree services on weekends, with next to 1904 or 1905 sightings.

I've also heard a rumour that the L94UBs in the hills will be retired early and replaced with a fleet of Volvos as I may have mentioned already, but I haven't heard any confirmation about this. Does anyone have any more info?

I’ve seen the volgren out on a Saturday night a few weeks back on a 720H, but none since or before then

I have seen it once on a Saturday afternoon, on the 747 and a couple of times on the 747 and 745 on weekdays, gasping at the sight of the rare bus :o :P . Weird image? I think that's A nice fine scania!

So that must make them nice and quiet. Nothing wrong with that.

If you prefer traveling on washing machines on wheels, it's fine. I'd personally prefer the roar of an MAN CNG over 2010s stuff.

Sadly the Great Unwashed and the Powers-That-Be want everything ultra sleek and modern these days so for them the quieter and smoother the better. Very few buses with any character still exist.
