[Mar 2012] SA Transport Observations
And "Mad March" Has arrived. Uni starts up again; The Fringe and Clipsal 500 are already in full swing; the Adelaide Cup is on the horizon and extra passengers ride the system as a result of all of the above.
Tonsley trains have ceased running for the time being (estimated at approximately a year) with Light-City Buses supplying replacement services. Grange trains are only running from Grange to Woodville on weekdays until 7:00 pm; with supplementary substitute buses being run by Torrens Transit. Nights and weekends sees regular, full Grange line services.
Post your South Australian transport observations here that wouldn't seem to warrant their own thread.

Looks like there's a whole stack of EDSA Hinos and Coasters up for sale:

Don't be fooled by the odometer readings on the Hinos: they only had 5 digit odometers, so anyone's guess how many times they've been round the clock.

Some of them look in really good nick (at least from the photos), but they've all just turned or about to turn 25 years old. I like the coaster with 770,000 km on it.

1223 has a sports exhaust system, if you are interested.

LOLWUT?
Does it make a horrible droning noise that wakes up entire neighbourhoods at 3 in the morning? (much like your average Hackham-based Commodore)

Re: [Mar 2012] SA Transport Observations
After a car going in the back of the bus once, 1223 was fitted with the cheapest available exhaust system. This happened to be a sports exhaust. It had a pretty good note too.

Many years ago 1223 was based at Aberfoyle Park High School and I drove it many times from there. No sports exhaust then though.

On Friday night saw a quite a few CB 80 articulated buses in service in the city, and one CB 80 articulated bus travelling in an easterly direction along Greenhill Road not far from the Anzac Highway intersection.

Re: [Mar 2012] SA Transport Observations
In slightly more interesting news, SouthLink was using Merc artics and SG280Hs on rail subs today, and there were also Jumbos out in service. I expect to see more of the same tomorrow.

Rode 2109-2002-2108 (7:50pm) to Mawson Lakes just now. Must be for the Clipsal and the Soundwave concert.
Southlink's two competitors are: 'Scania-City Buses' and 'MAN Transit'.

1181 is currently Stuck at klemzig interchange carpark (1432hrs AEDST), unfortunately the co-ordinator isnt very helpful, making the operator more anxious and frustrated. Fitter on way out to assist.

Good to see Southlink North use their SG280H buses today heading into the city. Also funny to see parents with pushers refuse to get on one as they would have to disassemble their prams! I noticed 4 buses in a row were SG280H.
Though, hope no wheelchair users were too inconvenienced.

Re: [Mar 2012] SA Transport Observations
Saw a Transfield bus from the asterisk depot on Ayliffes Rd this morning. Somebody had obviously peeled the big yellow M off, cut it into straight bits, and reapplied it on the correct spot on the windscreen as a yellow asterisk. LOL!!!
Re: [Mar 2012] SA Transport Observations
Several Morphettville Depot buses have damaged M's,which I believe happened last Wednesday during the heavy downpour and was probably caused by the windscreen wipers ripping them ? I stand to be corrected!

Re: [Mar 2012] SA Transport Observations
Are you saying that Transfield are THAT stupid that they cant put a sticker on a windscreen OUTSIDE OF THE RANGE OF THE WINDSCREEN WIPER ??????
Re: [Mar 2012] SA Transport Observations
MAN Artic 351 is still in the Morphettville yard undergoing some sort of repairs, and has not yet gone into service with LCB,
