T2819 - T2821 in service on the Route 60 CityGlider and all are in the Blue CityGlider wrap.

The new Volvos will be progressively be replacing the diesel MANs currently on the route (in turn the diesel MANs going back into standard route service replacing a number of gas MANs which are being transferred to G to replace the Scanias).

T2819 has already been seen photographed in service (before the wraps were applied) as early as late December.

T1030 now has white destination signs - front, side and rear. The bus is still in CityGlider livery.

I believe T2819 is currently without a wrap and is running normal routes. Seen it running a 362 earlier this week and a 379 the week before. T2820 onwards are definitely dedicated CityGliders.

Interesting observation. Would this mean that it might stay as a CG even with the rollout of the Optimus' or are they going to try replace some and/or all of the fleet with white desto boards?

I just saw V2810 near the Roma St. station yesterday, which is a newly built VOLVO B8RLE, has the dual-wing back door. It is good to see we're having dual-wing back door bus.

And I wonder if we can have some B5LH low-floor in either fleet of BT, just like some bus companies in VIC.

I just had an experience in 412 and felt very crowded. Is there any possibility of having some double deckers in such bus routes as that entire route is out of the busway?

Short answer: probably not.

Long answer: with uni only going back a few weeks ago, there is always a large influx of students catching the buses in the first few weeks/months. This will eventually decrease with (mainly the first years) realising they don't have to attend every lecture and them finding new ways to get there. That usually sorts itself out.

Also, Routes like the 412 are served by different depots (Toowong and Sherwood I believe are the only 2). It is common for buses to operate a 412 to St Lucia South, then a 428 to Indro, then a 105 to the City, then a 185 to Garden City (for example). So, not only would they have to redo most of the run sheets for these depots, but they would also have to upgrade the current facilities at either depot to stable them (as I don't think the workshops at Toowong are high enough, similar story for Sherwood).

It just isn't overly viable. A short term fix is to increase the frequency and operating hours of the 402 to cater for that demand (and the 427/428/432 if needed).

Was checking the most recent fleet movements on Brisbane Transport Info, and I saw that 1203 has been withdrawn. Anyone know the reason for this?

1203 was in a major pile up on the centenary highway at Jindalee.

It was W1496 that was in the crash on Monday (I'll assume that's what you were talking about). I don't think any routes that go over the Jindalee Bridge are served by Toowong depot either (as far as I'm aware).

Anyway, I'm not exactly sure what's happened to T1203. Maybe a major mechanical issue or something along those lines.

BT Enthusiasts Guide might have some further info in the coming weeks.

Noted on the Translink Website today:

https://translink.com.au/service-updates/225751

"On Friday 12 April from 12.30pm to 1.45pm, the following stop will be closed due to the unveiling of a restored bus.

During this time, if you travel on route 340, please use the alternative stop below."

Anyone know about the restored bus?

UYPDATE:

I'll answer my own question - it was Leyland Panther 722.

Th full compliment of new Blue CityGlider buses (2820-2838) is now in service with 2837 in rainbow livery (like 1041) and 2838 in partial livery (like 1045).

The Carina 1920's are going to Sherwood (so far 1922-1928 at Sherwood) and in return the Sherwood 5100's are going to Carina. Not sure where the 18.310's are going. They seem to have the 1300's from Toowong but 1373 was transferred to Willawong a few days ago.

Which bus will take place of old Scania L94UB in the GC depot?

The new Optimus' that are being delivered to Toowong (now up to T2847 I believe) are allowing for some of the MAN CNGs to be transferred down to GC so the Scania's can be withdrawn. You can keep track of it all here: http://www.brisbanetransport.info/index ... tMovements

1923-1926 were already at Sherwood; 1927 and 1928 were at Carina for a few months.
T2851 parked at Volgren today so at least four more B8’s for Toowong in the next few weeks.
Most of the ex-Blue CityGliders are back in service at Toowong in standard livery.
About 22 gas 18.310 buses transferred from Toowong to Garden City (with 1203 withdrawn).
Only about 30 Scanias still in active service at Garden City - might be closer to 20 in a few weeks.

I’d be surprised if Sherwood lost too many 18.5m buses prior to new deliveries of artics in the new financial year.

Have Transport for Brisbane ordered more bendies?

EDIT: Answered my own question. The 2019-2020 budget has an additional 10 bendy buses.

They also put aside $2 million for electric buses. Since Vogren and Volvo have been BT's long service contractors they might introduce Electric B8's-possibly for 1651-1661 or 2848 to ?
They might even have 2839-2851 be wrapped up for the Maroon CityGlider, but that is quite unlikely as I saw full-length advertising wraps on 2839 the other day.
Not too sure what routes these b8's operate on, but I've seen a strong presence of these buses on routes 444,470 and 375. Could just be coincidental.

I'd assume the B8's out of Toowong just run normal run sheets (that is, they're just replaced what would have been done by the MAN CNGs or Diesels). Just like Optimus' and B12s at Sherwood or CNGs and Scanias at Garden City.
