Re: Transport for Brisbane Observations 2019
Btw 2812 is not in a wrap. I mistook it for 2848. And yes, there are only 21 L94UB's left. Check Manheim for better accuracy than BTBuses. Also, 2848 is now in service. And are all B8's up to 2854. How come BTB does not have more than 2851 when 2860 is being built at Volgren Queensland? And it still says 2847 and up are at Workshops when I went on 2852 on a 199 yesterday???

Have heard that W 18.310s 1459-1485 are possibly ZF Ecomat??? I did go on 1480 the other day and it did sound a bit like a ZF, although what I call 'authentic', are at Toowong. I like 1227 the most, it has a REALLY loud ZF. The Engine Startups are amazing on it. Its when the turbocharged engine actually gives out some of its power... nice. 1488 has a really loud Voith, although it's pretty annoying and disgusting.
Quite a disappointment on b8's are what bcc claims to be 'charging ports throughout the bus'. Did they give up on this?? There are ports at the front of the bus between seats but there are no ports at the back???
Would also like to see some 3-axle B8's to operate on some busier routes such as the 333,444 and 199. There were NO seats on the 199 I went on the other day and I had to stand the entire time

1. It shows that 2847 to 2851 are still at Workshops, and there isn't a 2852-2856
2. 1310 up to 1325 are all at GC now, it still shows they're at T

Reasons why the B8 artics won’t go on those routes is purely down to the design of the route itself. An Artic cannot make the left turn off Brunswick St into Ivory St Tunnel where the 199 currently goes I/B. Simple solution there would be to have all 199’s inbound follow similar alignment to the 196 again. 333, the design of Chermside interchange does not permit larger buses inside. Though, simply making the 333 service the stops outside the interchange would alleviate this issue. Artics are permitted on the 444 and were used for shuttles on NYE with some success. The main reason why you won’t see them on these routes is passenger numbers, by far and above the route with the most full standing loads is the 66, which is where those buses excel. They would be even better with all door boarding.

Agreed, although during a visit some time ago, I noticed having two smart-card validators at every door made a world of difference (even on buses with narrow rear doors!) to the rate at which passengers can disembark.^^__^^ wrote:They would be even better with all door boarding.
Re: Transport for Brisbane Observations 2019
Other than for the two CityGliders, all bus entry is through the front door. With the CityGliders, there is considerable fare evasion occurring with passengers entering through the rear door and not tagging on.Merc1107 wrote:Agreed, although during a visit some time ago, I noticed having two smart-card validators at every door made a world of difference (even on buses with narrow rear doors!) to the rate at which passengers can disembark.^^__^^ wrote:They would be even better with all door boarding.
From my observations, all-door boarding on the CityGliders in the City area (and also at the Cultural Centre Busway Station) is actually less efficient than passengers boarding through the front door and the majority of passengers leaving via the rear door. There is generally a bottleneck at the rear door whilst the front door is "free".
In my opinion, the only time that all door boarding is efficient (and revenue-effective) is when there are fare gates on busway platforms as passengers don't have to deal with tagging on/off on the bus itself (but then this would require the whole route to have fare gates to enable the correct fare to be calculated).

New Timetable for western suburb + Centenary will start on 19th August, some of routes will run via legacy way tunnel instead of Milton Road and Coronation Drive, few route changing, also more early morning.

Goodbye Centenary City Precincts. You will be missed... by not many.

Anyway, what was City Precincts even for? Who wouldn't take Legacy Way over congested M5 and Coronation Drive??
What was the difference between the P457 and the P459??? Really, I think this is what should have been done years ago...

Went to Brisbane Airport for a flight the other day and I found they still operate a Diesel CB80 on the Airport Loop. Funny though as I thought BYD was going to take over Brisbane Airport.
Does anyone know what rego Qantas B737's with IFE have?? I went on VH-VYC with no luck...
2858 at Toowong Garage, couldn't get a rego though.

2244 is seen mocking up a 454 on the website URL https://translink.com.au/about-translin ... /centenary. WHY would they do that?
Re: Transport for Brisbane Observations 2019
I have noted that the new B8's are being delivered quite regularly but that the Scanias aren't being retired at the same rate.
This surprises me as I would have thought they would have wanted to re-register as few Scanias as possible in July.
I haven't been able to identify that there is a need for more buses - the changes in August to UQ and Centenary services don't look to require more buses as most new services are outside peak or replacing existing services.

Re: Transport for Brisbane Observations 2019
1302, 1303, 1304 and 1305 are at Garden City today.
Something I have noted is that the most recent transfers (1302 through 1308) are buses that have been at Toowong since their delivery in 2007. Pastures anew for these buses.
I also note that 1345, 1346 and 1347 are still at Toowong - is there a special reason why they haven;t gone to Garden City?
With four buses transferred to Garden City, I expect there were four Scanias retired over the weekend (which would leave 17 in service).

Probably to try keep the kms on the bus down. They can add up fairly quickly travelling up and down the busway everyday.daveeyh wrote: I also note that 1345, 1346 and 1347 are still at Toowong - is there a special reason why they haven;t gone to Garden City?

Does anyone know when they're going to start retiring MAN's? Haven't seen 1200 in a few moths now...
