Bt Observations April 2015
T1011 on 122s today.
Re: Bt Observations Febuary March 2015
If it still had T's attached, I would suggest that it is on loan as the depot identifier usually gets removed before transfer to SWT.BestFriendHasLeprosy wrote:T1011 on 122s today.

Re: Bt Observations April 2015
Spotted T1595 (Hybrid demonstrator vehicle i believe) on Adelaide St outside the State Library today. Sadly no pics, i was on the P546 when i saw it. Looks impressive.
Still waiting for a MAN SL200 to catch to school. Might be waiting a while....
Re: Bt Observations April 2015
Re hybrid demonstrator. T1595 is listed as a Volvo B7RLE Volgren Optimus on the Brisbane transport site, the only Optimus they have. Can you tell us if the Hybrid is in BT livery. Thanks.

I think BT has more than one Optimus...
Re: Bt Observations April 2015
Yes but only one listed at Toowong T1595.

He meant the only Optimus Toowong has, not BT.

Re: Bt Observations April 2015
It is not an official trial or demo bus, it was accepted by Council as part of the last tender. So it will be around till at least the next State Government Contract review now due in Sept 2016.

A number of Willawong buses have this now - I think it's replaced the I'm x of 500 buses stickers.daveeyh wrote:Sticker/sign on the back of V2182 : "Get on board Australia's most modern bus fleet."

Those 500 and after all this ## of 500 new bus equivelents was a promise delivered by Lord Mayor Campbell Newman and fulfilled by Lord Mayor Graham Quirk And the latest 1595 has it on the rear as well, after all it is the most modern.

Re: Bt Observations April 2015
I find it odd how it can be described as "Australia's most modern bus fleet" when they still operate vehicles from early/mid 1990s.
Re: Bt Observations April 2015
Maybe because the claim is absolute horse poop.

Two buses crash head-on at Woolloongabba
Two buses have collided at Woolloongabba, causing delays to bus services through East Brisbane.
A police spokesman said the incident occurred just before 4.30pm on Monday, but was not serious.
The two buses crashed head-on at the intersection of Main and Stanley Streets, opposite the Gabba.
The Queensland Ambulance Service took one bus driver to the Princess Alexandra Hospital with minor injuries.

Translink said the bus station was closed briefly, causing delays of up to 30 minutes on affected routes.

If I hadn't seen the picture, I wouldn't have believed that two buses could come together likes this...

Re: Bt Observations April 2015
I think that they are referring to the average age of the fleet.BestFriendHasLeprosy wrote:I find it odd how it can be described as "Australia's most modern bus fleet" when they still operate vehicles from early/mid 1990s.
On age of buses, the oldest STA buses in service in Sydney are from 1989, oldest in Perth and Adelaide are from 1987, oldest in Hobart are from 1985, oldest in Canberra are from 1990 and some Melbourne operators have buses from the 1980's so Brisbane Transport isn't doing too bad with oldest bus dating from November 1993.

Similar things could be said about Brisbane Transports disability compliance.

Re: Bt Observations April 2015
Unfortunately the layout of these buses is anything but modern. 1,200 buses and only 8 of them (the K310s) have 2 decent sized unobstructed stepless doors. Over 1,000 buses with only an 800mm wide side door which only one person can go through at a time, causing enormous delays with loading and unloading, all in exchange for only 2 more seats. Every single bus in the fleet has a stepped interior. No side destination displays on any bus when this has been standard for all other operators in the region since 2005 or so. Not to mention they aren't even responsible for paying any acquisition costs anymore yet somehow get to add the book value of the fleet into their balance sheet...
The problem with specifications is not limited to Brisbane Transport either. Despite the build quality, every Bustech ever built with 2 doors has had a stepped side door, which is embarrassing (apart from the less than 20 double decks they have built).
Nobody seems interested in changing anything either.
