Personally, I don't think they would last the distance to the usual 21 years. From a passenger's point of view, the Metroliners at 21 years were a much better ride Han the Scanias.
I think it may be more cost effective in the long run to reduce the number of gas buses as it seems the future is in diesels.

Virginia Scania V731 involved in a pretty serious accident this morning, suffering bad damage to the front of the bus and a broken window on the right hand side.

Bus_Control (or others), any update on which buses are in this 20?

In the four months since this post, the BTBuses website shows only five withdrawn Scanias - 713 in May; 693, 700 and 735 in June; and 690 in July.

In July, Hornibrook advised that 737 and 786 were out of service (although both are still listed as part of Virginia's fleet on BTBuses):

Both now de-registered and out of service. Where they actually are is another question.

Since April 2015, I haven't seen 726, 741, 757, 778, 782, 792 or 796 in service - so maybe these buses are part of the 20?

792 was at Virginia with taped or painted out number plates so would presume at sherwood or manheims. I'm around Virginia a few days a week so I'll look for the numbers listed.

I noted 724, 729, 746, 757, 792 and 796 parked in the back lanes at Eagle Farm today - have these units been withdrawn from Virginia?

792 has been out of service for months so I think this would be withdrawn. Wonder where they will end up as manheims still got metroliners and I doubt sherwood could take many more. Maybe a storage depot is calling, how about Bowen Hills, it's still empty!!

So far in August and September, there have been 11 new Optimus buses delivered (2198-2208) but no Scania withdrawals listed on BT Buses.

I would have thought there would be a one for one replacement seeing that there are no expanding services that require additional vehicles.

Anybody looking for Scanias from Virginia, go to Eagle Farm as there must be 20-25 in there at the moment parked between the sheds.

Any staff on here from Eagle Farm who can identify which ones they are? It would be great to get a definitive list and then they could be removed from Virginia's fleet listing on BT Buses website.

I am confused - does that mean the withdrawn Scanias listed above may be coming back or are there more to go?

I would assume the buses listed won't be the last. There are more than 19 new volvos delivered to Virginia so there has to be more than what's stated. Maybe at least 25-30 must be withdrawn including the above.
Scanias 792, 796 and 786 for instance were withdrawn over 3 months ago but only just now mentioned as official.
Guess we will have to keep the eyes on the roads..

I note on BTBuses that six Scanias (701-706) have been transferred from V to G.

Have some of the G Scanias been withdrawn from service?

Negative. No Scanias (apart from the 2 salvage @ Manheim) have been withdrawn as yet.

Seems a little unusual that Garden City has an extra six buses without losing any buses to either withdrawal or transfer.

I haven't seen G634, G659 or G696 for a couple of months now.

I think 634 was on the 590 near the airport on Monday. Or was it the 599??? One of the two.

Only 719 is currently on the Manheim site - can anyone confirm that 687 has actually been sold after many months at Manheim?

I have seen 634 a couple of times in the past couple of weeks and I rode it yesterday - very noisy bus so I am guessing it is only used when necessary.

Still haven't seen 659 or 696 on the road recently.

V762 and V804 are currently parked in the back lanes at Eagle Farm with the withdrawn buses so I assume that these two buses have also been removed from service.

V709 is now G709.

By my count, this makes twelve buses (701, 720, 703, 704, 705, 706, 709, 710, 711, 712, 1322 and 1323) transferred to Garden City in the past couple of months with nothing transferred out - is there a reason why G is getting so many additional buses?
