A Carrier unit. Only 2 metros fitted with this unit.

ETA. 246 was the other, now withdrawn.

Are the rest fitted with CoachAir ST units like the pink party bus pictured in this thread?

246 and 341 are fitted with Carriers. They were a trial before the MAN's arrived.

The Metroliners that I sighted in service in September 2014 were:

Virginia: 328, 329, 333, 334, 336, 338, 341, 342, 347, 348, 500, 501, 502, 503.

Eagle Farm: 532, 535, 536, 538, 539, 540, 541, 542. Did not see any buses in the 514-528 range in service last month.

Hornibrook: 529, 530, 531, 533, 534.

South West: 504, 510, 512. (SW data based solely on sightings at Garden City on 122 services - I assume that 505, 506, 507, 508, 509 and 511 are still at SWT in addition to the three others that were sighted).

Interesting to note that oldest Metroliners are all currently in route service, whilst 514-528 that are a year or more younger are sitting at Eagle Farm depot.

328 was really the bus that started it all off for me as far as buses go. First photo I took of a bus was 328 outside Dang's Fish and Chip shop on Raymont Rd Grange. About a week later I got 329 on the other side.

Here is a photo of a Volvo B10M MK3 Austral polished up like new, at Redbank station 17- 3- 2013 when Thompsons were doing Rail replacement work. The BT fleet number 222 can still be seen on the roof. Presumably it is with Thompson but the rego 224 SRI is not on their fleet list. I notice they have painted their B10Ms all white now.

Expect this one and many more to hang around until after G20. There is a bunch of newbies not yet in service being used for G20 work, which will replace the oldies afterwards.

Why haven't the withdrawn Mk3 Metros at Eagle Farm gone to Manheims yet? E325, E324 etc?

Probably because there is no demand for them. The used bus market has gone to sleep. The reserve has been slashed on the B10m's and B10L's and still keep getting passed in.

They've sold too many too fast. The market is saturated.

I can only imagine how difficult it will be when they try to offload gas Scanias in the coming years.

Always a favourite with the drivers, especially the mk4s which could really move. However, the high floor design is inconvenient now that customers are more inclined to expect low-floor buses on their services. Unlike in Sydney, BT never placed much importance on integrating high floor and low floor bus assignment on its routes, and this used to cause problems when there were still many metros in service. Still does if a metro is assigned to a low-frequency service (354 for example) and someone along the route in a wheelchair or with a large pram has made the unsafe assumption that a Scania will turn up.

BT Buses site shows them as Withdrawn.

Also lists 332, 339, 340, 344 and 350 as being withdrawn from Virginia.

I haven't seen 336, 337, 343 and 348 on the road in the last couple of months so I expect these are probably the next for withdrawal from Virginia.

Yeah, the Mk4s at E were withdrawn one day after G20 summit. Been going after the ones at Hornibrook and SWT before they disappear too.

Noted 342 in service earlier in the week so the V Metroliners have survived into 2015...

The ones with Thompsons were only temporary too. I believe they've already sold two of them.
