Re: Sunliner Express / Boomerang Day Tours History
Hey Jas...greenie was asking on another thread ('stories from behind the wheel') about Neoplan bunks...did you ever see them under the stairwell when with Sunliner or were they removed by then...I cant recall??
Re: Sunliner Express / Boomerang Day Tours History
Hi Mate, 161 and 163 were the only ones to have bunks in the Boomerang fleet, unsure of the other 3 neoplans. No mattresses where in there but the drivers used to store stuff in there. They had a roller door on the inside opposite the dash mounted fridge near the door and on the outside a access door, these seem to be only on the short wheelbase neoplans. Some of the neoplans had the longer wheelbase and no bunk eg 162. Hope this helps. Boss

That brings back memories. I spent many meal breaks there in between doing 621 / 622 services. Thanks for the photo.
1989 is the year I left Bayside after 7 years service in the company.

A CAG box nightmare to drive...I took this (correction...1 of the CAG boxed) units to Gympie with the Bronco's in tow in 1988 and it played up a riot...mongrel semi automatic pain in the butt ...albeit a nice looking coach...but the looks definitely were deceiving!

Hi Chris, sorry to disappoint you, but the 2 ex Intercapitals (5-6) to Bayside (111-112) where 5 speed manuals with a stick . The CAG boxes where in 151-152-153 Boomerang and 106-107-108-109 Bayside. Also 95 and 96 (Bayside) had CAG Boxes too.

Re: Sunliner Express / Boomerang Day Tours History
Always happy to stand corrected on this Jas(it was a long time ago ) obviously was 151 through 153 mate - I remember she was all white in colour (or am I mistaken in that !? - I probably drove the manuals also but it was the CAG boxes that stood out for me ...what a bloody embarassment to have them chop and change gears on a whim of their own choosing (gimme a manual any day ... you control the rev and change pattern...thank Christ )Boss wrote:Hi Chris, sorry to disappoint you, but the 2 ex Intercapitals (5-6) to Bayside (111-112) where 5 speed manuals with a stick . Hi Mate, it`s 210 in the silver and blue with "The Coach Connection" . This was part of the Gosford group of companies after Sunliner Folded. On page 2 of this discussion the picture of the Scania Custom Coaches Hyliner at the bus and coach show is 211. The 2 have different bullbars as the top bar is higher on 211 and lower on 210. Also the Custom Hyliner name and spotlights are in different positions.

She was a gorgeous coach to drive - this is the unit Phil Cummings and myself took to Melbourne via New England highway then on to the Hume (I found my last log book in the attic Jas!) It was a very memorable trip - The last that Phil and I took as a "2 Up"...good memoriesBoss wrote:Hi Mate, it`s 210 in the silver and blue with "The Coach Connection" .
