Hello All,
I visited Canberra over last weekend, and on my stay I found this:
Seems like it was used as a canteen or something for a while and was abandoned afterwards, as seen by grafitti. I wonder which fleet number this bus had; I'll try the flet lists and see. Seen in a park north of Civic.
Some more Canberra photos, including ACTION, will come soon.
Thanks for viewing!

I would have thought something looking like that in FULL view on a public street, authorities would be telling the owner to move it

I'm quite surprised that nothing has been done.Tas Bus Nut wrote:I would have thought something looking like that in FULL view on a public street, authorities would be telling the owner to move it
The park the bus is in looks unused and "tired" as it is overcrowded with trees and the lawn has not been mowed. Perhaps this is why the decker was abandoned...

I think it has been there forever. I can remember when it was an operating coffee bar or similar.

The park itself is Haig Park and is certainly far from unused! When I last went past the grass was quite long (which it should not be), however Canberra has so much grass that there is an online roster as to what gets mowed when to keep up with demand (especially in Spring). They are doing work on the park with regards to re-planting trees and other work to bring it back to life for our 100th birthday. The park itself is more there as a break between suburbs rather than to be a place of recreation!Randommann wrote:I'm quite surprised that nothing has been done.Tas Bus Nut wrote:I would have thought something looking like that in FULL view on a public street, authorities would be telling the owner to move it

The bus has been there for a while and it was used as a take away stall, I do believe it was also located closer to the city in one of the open air car parks now occupied by low rise buildings. I have not seen it in operation for years and is becoming quite an eyesore. One quick email to TAMS though and it can and will be removed from Government Land if it is no longer in operation.
