Identify body

Post by CCCC »

Found another unusual body combo on Gumtree , body looks GM PD 4107(ish) although step deck windows above don't look as large as the GM's

Its also a Hino , so did we build this kind of body in Aus or is it fully imported.

Its an import. There are at least 2 companies importing these buses from Japan. They dont have a long service life over there so there's plenty of them. As long as its a Hino you should be able to find parts. The body panels, windows, etc might take time.Just find out as much as you can.If you are looking for a bus to convert I'd suggest you find a locally built vehicle.

Driven buses/coaches long enough to know not to own one.

Was just an interesting shape , good looking front end for a 1975 model , from your info looks like the Japanese were copying a lot from the GM PD models even down to the riveting technique.

Think you got it.

They did a good job squaring off those front windows compared to original.
Looks cleaner without the large chrome work.

I remember that bus while I was driving local charter around that time.An odd looking bus.I remember seeing another or even this one in one of the Railmac books on local SA buses. They had a Denning, and a PMC Apollo Scania. They were from Woodville,SA.
