Redline's regular Brisbane/Sydney 2-day tour morning tea/afternoon tea refreshment stop north of Sydney for many years, after moving from the Calga Kiosk....which had become impractical with advances in coach performance. (During one mid-1950s morning tea at Calga, an elderly gentleman tour passenger took a stroll up amongst the granite boulders behind the cafe and didn't come back. Maybe he knew it was his time.)
I recall a monkey in the little Kangy Roadhouse zoo around the side jumping on my head one day....durned thing had claws like an eagle's talons.....
Of course, the whole place is no more......
**** PS: The memory fails a little at my age....just an update to add that Redline patronised the Mt White roadhouse for some years between the Calga and Kangy Creek periods....which I believe is also no more. ****
Here are tour and express services together at Kangy in the late 1960s.....
With acknowledgment to Paul Wright for the photo.
