Good reliable buses and some still in service after 25 plus years of reliable service, just a pity the B10M rigids were sold off. Recall seeing 704 on its delivery run :D .

Correct LocoLes, 722 did serve in Launceston for a little while in 2008 then the pricks in Hobart took it back :(

Now now Vern the pricks in Hobart might one day let Launceston have one of the CB60 Evo II articulates.

Yes Neil that is a god shot of 704, was practically new then, in its first few weeks of service.

I have added a photo of MET-712 and hopefully you don't mind that I have include 3 photos of STA Adelaide's similar 1980-81 PMC-SA builds, noting little difference body-wise between Metro's 1985-6-7 fleet. STA utilised 2 doors on the articulated vehicles. When STA-1387 was retired after 2million km, 30 years later, it had used 5 engines according to a news item  Not bad those Volvo's!

Does anyone (Mark?) Know what our highest km bus was/is? I'd have thought 707 or 708.

704-713 are also 2 door, 714-722 being 3 door. Whilst most treat this as the defining feature between the Mk1 and 2 it is not the case with 714 being a Mk 1 3 door.

Do you recall when this was?

Educated guess with 706 approx. 2,500,000km. More accurate numbers will be obtained in due course.

Hi Yoda,
Have sited the newspaper item re the high mileage Volvo artics. When Adelaide's bus services were privatised No.1387 was transferred to South Link at Lonsdale depot where it was renumbered 2417 [reg WJP-401]. The Bus Australia records show 2417 [ex 1387] was finally sold in 2012 so it still had at least 5 years' service to run after this news item was printed and also suggests it had already travelled 3 return trips to the Moon after 24 years  .
Cheers, LocoLes

Morning Les. Cannot believe, two of the shots of HC14 were on the same school run out of Taroona, years apart  Would you mind if the Society used the shot of 706 in Macquarie St please, for TBCS social media pages :?:

Hi Neil, Yes, there is a gap of 10 years between the 2 photos of HC #14. Not much has changed in the background either.
Just located 3 more B10ML pics, MET 718 is loading for Sandy Bay and MET 716 appeared a few minutes apart on either side of Elizabeth Street. Am I correct in stating MET 716 later in its' long career received LHS passenger window damage and non standard PMC windows were fitted as a result :?:
Sent you a PM re the MET 706 pics :)

NO, 716 was "refurbished" which consisted of new hopper style windows to "try" and modernise her. :( Sadly it didn't work :( May have done, if they replaced the drivers window too. Amazingly, it was off the road for almost 6mths being "refurbished" and in that time they never touched the motor. 3mths after being back on road, had major mechanical failure   Preventive maintenance :?: I think not

Love seeing the old photos of artics operating the Churchill Ave and Sandy Bay routes

As I am from Adelaide and use to drive our B10ML buses, how come some of the artic fleet have 3 doors and some only have 2 doors?
Love these Volvo's they cream the Scania buckets anyday.

The B10Ms came in two batches. The first batch 704-713 were fitted with the Mk.I PMC body with two doors, whilst the final batch (in two-tone green) were fitted with updated dash and Mk.II PMC body (hence three doors) The only exception to this, was 714 which had the Mk.I chassis (older dash) but with the Mk.II body (3 doors) Hope this explains for you ScaniaK320
