Tas Redline's NEW Main Rd Coach
Unfortunately Tasmania's Own REDLINE appears to be replacing their faithful Motorcoach 14.5m vehicles with the now popular imported BCI from China. They currently have (3) (that I know of) #36 Midi-coach used on Hobart Airporter services, #51 is a 57 seater used on tours and this vehicle #38, a 49 seater with WC now being used on their Main Rd services. Apparently they,(#38 & #51) are powered by a 330hp Cat, and they do look nice, however, time will tell how they perform on extended use on the Main Rd services. I caught up with #38 on the 3pm service ex Hobart this afternoon at the top of Murray St in Nth Hobart.

That will be the first of many problems I am Sure. While they save on the purchase price that will be blown on getting things sorted and body work repairs, so they may have well purchased a Merc or Volvo , Scania etc with Oz coach work. I did notice that the BCI pictured has a wheel chair lift fitted.mca96 wrote:Time will tell. they also have 2 low floor BCIs on on the deloraine run and the surf to city. aparently they are having trouble with the little Midi, wants to wander all over the road

Re: Tas Redline's NEW Main Rd Coach
BCI have changed factories where the coaches are built and apparently quality is now a lot better. Those smaller version BCIs do tend to wander all over the road, especially the 6850. Certainly I will adopt the 'wait & see' approach but apparenty Crown Coaches in Melbourne(from reports on the BCSV Tour) are quite happy with their 2 hybrids delivered earlier in the year.
yolo seems to be a bit of a trend!
Re: Tas Redline's NEW Main Rd Coach
I cant realy see the BCI being any differnt from any other bus or coach all have there problems from new. Stonestreets have had all new intercoolers in there phonexs because they crack they also split fuel tanks, the ISC Cummmins in IVECOS blow up every bus will have problems
