(WA) [Sounds] A selection of days gone by

***For our long time members of this forum, most of these recordings have been previously posted, so no need to listen/download unless you want to ***

For our newer & younger members of the forum, here's a taste from my collection of 1200+ recordings, of buses that I and a number of other gunzels grew up riding. Some of these vehicles are still around today, with various Private Operators, some are in the pages of history, but were fortunate enough to have their "Voices" preserved for future generations.

It may be worth noting for the record, that multiple copies of my (as at 03/07/2018 @ 03:00) 1231 recordings (5.83GB worth) are kept, so that there is always a back up or 2 of every file, in the event that a hard drive or similar storage device should fail.

First up is MAN SG292H No. 38. This was one of my final rides on an MAN, before they got withdrawn and scrapped. 38 was the only one that remained in as close to as new configuration (ie retained 4 Speed Voith but no rear wheel steering), until the end. These were by far my favourite artics in the fleet: http://www.mediafire.com/file/atghwg2k0 ... 9.mp3/file

Next up is "Bumbler Class" Mercedes O305G No. 475, heard leaving Armadale Interchange on a 907. Take note of the torque converter refusing to unlock 2nd gear a couple of times, creating a nasty drive train vibration: http://www.mediafire.com/file/hqdl2wvt3 ... 9.mp3/file

Continuing the list, Mercedes O305 No. 507 with it's regular driver: http://www.mediafire.com/file/d3dd6uqyl ... 9.mp3/file

A very musical Renault PR100.2 No. 609 is heard traversing the 423, back in the PATH days: http://www.mediafire.com/file/u9m2qqb53 ... 9.mp3/file

Another favourite in the Artic Department, was the sole Renault PR180.2 that was fitted with a ZF 5HP500. Generally known to the older gunzels as "Ol' Thumper" for her charateristic thump from 2nd to 3rd, but for our younger gen... 697. This was recorded running an 887F (361F): http://www.mediafire.com/file/mmw6639e1 ... 9.mp3/file

A little treat for everyone: Western Australian Government Tramways 101/MTT 325, a Guy Arab III Half Cab, with fellow board member "Herbert" at the wheel. Enjoy the wonderful sounds of the Gardner 6LW and Wilson Pre-Select Gearbox, as it traverses the roads of Whiteman Park: http://www.mediafire.com/file/4a9ty4dcw ... 1.mp3/file

Enjoy and as always, comments are welcome and appreciated.
If it's not a ZF, take it back!

Holder of W.A's largest transport sound recording collection. Over 1,300 recordings of vehicles and constantly expanding for the enjoyment of future generations.
