Perth visit part 3

Post by boronia »

The train network can be very confusing for the novice visitor.

The Fremantle Line goes to Fremantle, The Armadale line goes to Armadale, and the Midland Line goes to Midland. Then there is the Joondalup line which goes to... .. Butler . So looking at the indicators for a train to Joondalup is not very productive.

Anyway, eventually got there, after catching a bus from Whitfords on a very roundabout route, but getting a bit dark by now. The station is sunk compared to its surroundings and is circled by a ground level bus interchange. A monstrous Westfield shopping mall has been built over the line and around the interchange.

Some views of the station from the shopping centre forecourt

Note the ramp for buses to cross over the pedestrian areas:

 See you caught something... odd. By that, I mean an A-Series (Flat-Fronted) train running past Whitfords on the Joondalup Line. A-Series trains were, until Early-Mid-2016 used on Whitfords-Cockburn W shuttles, then being replaced by new deliveries of B-Series trains.
I'd post any important, bus-related links I had, but they're outdated anyways.
