O-Bahn Tour (in Perth) Photos

Post by Merc1107 »

For those stalwarts still posting on the ATBD*, some select shots before I tottle off into bed.
What a day

It was truly great to meet people with the same affliction, and put some faces to names.
Not sure how we will deal with the "Two Buses Go Up Lesmurdie Hill in a manner that certainly doesn't resemble a race," as we wouldn't want any buses impounded under Anti-Hoon laws  **

Unfortunately, my Sony Cybershot*** is NOT the best camera for taking photos. Manages to either not focus correctly, or blurr the image slightly. Not sure if its the camera, or me trying to be too quick.

* For now at least, I refuse to get Facebook. Why oh why this is being challenged by others I can't fathom.
** This wasn't my joke - rather that of someone else. But it seems fitting.
*** Cyber-sh** comes to mind

Nice pics, brings back memories from when they were in Adelaide. What was 488s original number?
1549 looks weird without guide wheels.
First person on 822, 865 (2016 re-route).
Last person on 164, 867, 868

In the 2nd pic, I was the one who drove/parked 1549 behind 488 after a brief stop at the Bus West depot at Cockburn; nice drive!

Thanks to all concerned!!

Cheers!

The above driver not only enjoyed driving the bus, he drove it beautifully and received a standing ovation for his efforts!

Superb work!

I was referring to the Adelaide number; Merc 0305s were not numbered in the 4xx range, but rather the 5xx (previously 15xx) range.

488 (the White O305G) isn't ex Adelaide, but rather ex Transperth.

Cheers!

'Lemme see what can be scrounged up.

As noted above, this weekend made it painfully obvious my Sony POS camera really is a "POS," or loves being a Cyber-You-Know-What rather than a CyberShot...

Thankfully image compression requirements on the board hide most of my transgressions against transport photograph.

Now that I've screwed my head back on after some grumbling at the board... (And double-checked your profile to jog my memory)

That was a friendly, nondescript way of putting it. Actually, it sounds a lot like Top Gear's "Challenges" in the Middle-East.

It was a pleasure to meet you too! :D

Looks like nearly all of "their" fleet are ex-Adelaide buses; in that shot alone I see 3 0305/Gs, 4 MAN SL200s and another yellow bus hidden behind the newer looking coach.

Thanks for excusing my ignorance, the front looked the same and I immediately assumed it was ex-Adelaide as well. I wonder what it would be like if our (Adelaide's) 0305s had their life in Perth, and Perth's were in Adelaide. Methinks the O-Bahn would have been a bit slower...

For a start you could forget about any sort of hills. Routes here in Perth were altered to accommodate the Bumblers, and ensure they didn't have to make any potentially embarrassing attempts at hill climbing.

And now the embarrassing hillclimbers are CNG OC's. Funny how thing progress.

Interesting to see what they've done to most of the ex Adelaide buses, glad to see them out and about again. Thanks for sharing :)
