This video would certainly count as "Voith Kickdown," and definitely makes some nice sounds.
Almost sounds as though those buses could've used an additional gear or two for freeway running. Then again, running higher-rpms on the freeway should at least help to clear up varnish in the engine.
Only rode an NH once on the freeway back in 2007 when the Mandurah line opened; we missed the last train headed out of Perth and had to take one of the freeway shuttles back to Murdoch from Esplanade Bus Port. This bus then decided it didn't want to do freeway duty, and decided to blow a rear tire at Canning Bridge exit.
I was disappointed to have ended up on the NH - there was a Renault artic headed to Mandurah stopping via Murdoch as well. Would've been fun to do the freeway on that!

The PR180.2's don't like long distance, high speed running. They used to overheat, hence why the 2 batches of O305G's ended up at Rockingham.
If it's not a ZF, take it back!

Its always curious to hear this sort of issue cropping up. Even if high-speed is harder to keep up with a full load, I would've thought the cooling system would be able to handle this - especially when at high speed, there should generally be more airflow, and less of the stop-go that, at least in my opinion, would work the bus harder and result in overheats.Bus-1809 wrote:The PR180.2's don't like long distance, high speed running. Heard of another Sound from a 4-speed Voith Transmission from TP1584. You know that this bus driver could take off really harsh, but the sound is quite smooth.
