I had some time to go wander up and down the Belair line on Saturday and took these pics from the Hills:
Outside Lynton station - the Lynton Shuttle minibus.
Bus 961 arriving at the Eden Hills terminus, Kenny Park.
Looking south from the Willunga Street bridge, near Eden Hills.
Tractor removing rails from further north, dragging them south-bound.
Looking east from Brighton Parade, Coromandel. The section of track east from here already has dual-gauge sleepers, however note the water pooling at the bottom of the pic.
Blackwood Station, looking south.
Blackwood Station.
Looking north from Glenalta Station.
The line's terminus, at Belair.
Looking west from Belair Station.

Thank you for a very interesting thread, Eagle Eye. I really enjoyed seeing what is happening to one of my favourite lines. More importantly, you have recorded history for future reference.

Obviously not too many people using the Lynton shuttle. A Toyota Commuter, what next a Tarago??

In the 2nd to last shot, it look slike they're simply covering up the old line with dirt??? Either that or my eyesight is going

Re: Belair line work in the Hills & Bus subs
What they are doing is pulling sections out and scraping back the old ballast and then removing it, so all that will be left is just dirt, then the new track and new ballast is put down from scratch so it is effectively a brand new railway line, albeit on an old formation. The depot tracks at Belair have been left in situ for now, the tractor there is removing ballast from the formation and making it all flat again but only to the point where the track has been removed.
