Maybe the next ones will be NGRR (New Generation Rollingstock Replacement)?

And replaced every 20 years? Our buses run for 25, and our trains for nearly 40...

I did not suggest they would be replaced after 20 years. Rather they would still be running, but there would be a couple of newer generation models running around with them, thus rendering the nomenclature ironic or inappropriate.

The NGRs would be tested and in service by now if they hadn't screwed up the signalling on the new Moreton rail line

Are these the new trains where there is not many seats, and also the priority disability seating has been removed, which is illegal under the Queensland
Anti-Discrimination laws.

With regard to the seats, there was a full sized replica of the interior layout of the new trains, at the open day of the Wulkuraka Maintenance Centre (See photos). In the words of Tim Nicholls, the new trains will have wider isles. As the loading gauge restricts the overall width of the train it occurred to me that the seats must be narrower. I measured the width of the SMUs and also the NGR replica double seats and the NGR seats are narrower overall.

The new trains have side destination displays which I have only seen display ‘test train’. I cannot see that these are going to be large enough to display full destinations, certainly not Springfield Central, Fortitude Valley or Coopers Plains. Maybe Kippa Ring will fit.

Loading points for disabled passengers are in the middle of the full length platforms. In the new trains the guard will be at the far end of the train in the other driving compartment which will be interesting when the ramp is needed.

Will the new Transport Minister want to show off the new trains at the official opening of the Redcliff Peninsular line next week? I guess so (with the seats back in place of course)

Will they have a "kneeling" feature, or will less agile passengers still be required to bring their own stepladders to get on/off?

The disabled passengers are on wheels that is why a ramp is needed.

I'm not disabled, but I found the vertical gap at many stations quite daunting.

Yes some are 40 centimetres. Not as good as Sydney

No NGR trains at Redcliffe Peninsular line official opening today, only cleaned and polished SMUs.

Any other NGR sets out and about testing other than NGR701.

I've seen 702 on test runs before Christmas. Not a lot happening at the moment.

Fair enough, I will be in Brisbane in mid February may see one of them pass me at the stations if they are out and about.

NGR 701 delivered to Wulkuraka Maintenance Centre 19 Feb. 2016 tested on QR tracks but not yet entered passenger service.

NGR 702 has gone from Progress Rail.

NGR 701 on a Springfield Central to Caboolture service terminated at Darra due to a train fault.

Aren't these the trains that had to be rebuilt by an Australian company as the former LNP Newman had them built in India and they did not meet the Australian Disability Standards.

Not rebuilt, just modified (albeit at the place where they should have been built in the first place )
