Go Bus purchases Central Motorways

Post by Delta66 »

As of Monday 3 August Go Bus Transport Ltd is the proud new owners of Central Motorways, Central Otago’s largest and most established Bus and Coach Company.

From small beginnings in 1979 with 3 aging Bedford buses, to its current large modern fleet of 80 buses and coaches, owner Murray Jenkinson is ready to let Central Motorways enter a new era under the Go Bus umbrella.

Central Motorways operates high quality School and Charter services throughout Central Otago, together with an impressive line up of 5 star coaches throughout the South Island under the Oceania brand. Its main depot is in Alexandra with satellite depots in Auckland, Christchurch, Queenstown, Wanaka, Maniototo and Dunedin .

Go Bus Managing Director, Calum Haslop said "Murray has built a fantastic business which is very complimentary to our existing operations in the Central Otago region. We are excited to be part of it and we look forward to welcoming the Central team to the Go Bus family and continuing their proud tradition of excellence in passenger transport services."

“It will be business as usual for clients of Central Motorways who can continue to rely on the same local team providing the high level of service they have always enjoyed, with the additional benefits that come from the support of a well resourced nationwide company” Mr. Haslop said

All current Central Motorways contact details will remain the same.

I am surprised that Gobus are allowed to be buying so many companies. Back when Stagecoach were trying to grow thru New Zealand in the late 1990's they were blocked by the Monopolies Commision. Or was it because they were a Scottish company???
