Advice needed. Trip to Melbourne.

Post by Swift »

I was thinking of taking the plunge and having a weekend or weekday sample of Melbourne's rail and tram network.
I have never been to Victoria and I want a heads up of the areas and lines to avoid as I have little sense of the "quirks" of that metropolitan area like I do Sydney.
Where are you more likely to encounter trouble on the train network for instance? Where to stay away from. That type of thing.
I understand Melbourne is of similar scale to Sydney and therefore, cannot be summed up so easily.
Just some random pointers will be helpful. Thanks.
Unapologetically hate attention seeking bus pax.

I go down there occasionally.
I haven't experienced any problems on the trains themselves, but if you see armed security patrolling platforms it might be prudent not to get off there.

Plenty of fun to be had riding the trams though.

Maybe Paul here might be able to give you an update

That would mean to avoid every single station after 6pm daily, then.
