The Mornington Peninsula shire's website continues to host timetables of interest.
Presented below are maps and times of two 'Penbus' routes.
http://www.mornpen.vic.gov.au/Services_ ... ort/PenBus
Penbus Route 1 is a revived cross-peninsula service, from Hastings to Rosebud TAFE via Mornington. Long-time readers will recall a previous cross-peninsula service that folded due to lack of patronage a few years back (under the Transport Connections program).
Penbus Route 2 goes from Rosebud to Monash Uni Clayton via Frankston and Eastlink. There are three weekday trips each way. It offers a faster but less frequent option than the existing 788 + Frankston train + 630 (or 703).
Note that both of these services are not strictly public transport as you must be an approved student, jobseeker, apprentice etc to travel. However travel is free. The service is funded by the federal government through DEEWR.
Both routes are operated by Ventura.

Re: Mornington Peninsula 'Penbus' timetables
A new 2014 timetable has been added to the above URL.
There are now 6 trips to/from Rosebud each way; 4 direct to Clayton campus and 2 with a connection to the Monash intercampus bus from Frankston.
The cross-peninsula Hastings route appears to have been dropped.
Unfortunately the bus timetable link from http://www.fmpllen.com.au/ does not work but there's an undated timetable for the Hastings route at http://www.fmpllen.com.au/uploads/1/2/9 ... isholm.pdf

The Federal funding for PenBus had run out at the end of the last financial year, but was thrown a 6-month lifeline by the local council.Victorian Government wrote: Labor Government Saves Student Bus Service After Federal Cuts
Minister for Public Transport
5 February 2016
The Andrews Labor Government has stepped in to save students and trainees on the Peninsula, who were left stranded when the Federal Government cut funding for the PenBus service.
Minister for Public Transport Jacinta Allan and Member for Frankston Paul Edbrooke announced today that the Labor Government will deliver a new dedicated bus service between Rosebud and the Monash University Peninsula Campus.
The new service is a funding partnership between the Labor Government, Mornington Peninsula Shire and Monash University and will operate for the next 12 months on a trial basis.
The new Route 887 will begin on 22 February, in time for the start of semester one, and will follow the same route as PenBus.
The service will run six express round trips per day, Monday to Friday, timetabled to connect with Monash University’s inter-campus shuttle to Clayton.
As well as servicing students, Route 887 will also be available to the public, with stops at Rosebud, Safety Beach, Mt Martha, Mornington, Mt Eliza, Frankston Station and Monash Peninsula Campus.
The first service will leave Rosebud at 6.47am, arriving at Frankston Station at 7.37am and the Monash University campus 8 minutes later. The last service leaves Monash University Peninsula Campus at 6.18pm arriving at Rosebud at 7.18pm.

Quotes attributable to Member for Public Transport Jacinta Allan
“Local students and trainees have been pleading with Bruce Billson, Greg Hunt and Martin Dixon to continue the funding the previous Federal Labor Government provided for PenBus – sadly, those pleas fell on deaf ears.”
“The Andrews Labor Government has stepped in to save local students, and provide an alternative to the PenBus service the Federal Government has withdrawn funding for.”
Quotes attributable to Member for Frankston Paul Edbrooke
“Route 887 will provide 3,500 students and hundreds of University staff a dedicated bus service to Monash University’s Peninsula Campus, timetabled to connect with the inter-campus shuttle to Clayton.”
Quotes attributable to Member for Eastern Victoria Daniel Mulino
“The bus service will begin in time for the start of the university year, and also benefit peninsula locals and visitors by stopping at Rosebud, Safety Beach, Mt Martha, Mornington, Mt Eliza and Frankston Station.”
There are two Facebook pages for PenBus:Mornington Peninsula Shire wrote: COUNCIL SUPPORTS PENBUS FOR REMAINDER OF 2015 ACADEMIC YEAR
PenBus – which connects peninsula students and job seekers to tertiary education, training and employment opportunities – will continue for the rest of the 2015 academic year after Council approved funding in its 2015-16 Budget.
Council recognised that uncertainty surrounding the future of PenBus beyond June 30 was distressing for students and their families, and has agreed to support the service until the academic year ends on Friday 20th November, 2015.
To assist Council in providing for the financial cost of operating the PenBus, a $3.00 per trip fee will be introduced from July 20.
Council advocated to the federal government for funding to undertake a three-year trial of the PenBus service, and financial support for the trial is due to cease on June 30 this year.
Council will continue to work with the state government and Monash University to seek a contribution to funding the continuation of the service for the remainder of the 2015 academic year.
The PenBus service makes travelling to access tertiary education, training and employment opportunities easy, with PenBus services scheduled to ensure morning passengers arrive at their destination in time for standard business and campus opening hours.
PenBus also gives passengers working or studying outside of the region a convenient connection to Chisholm Institute TAFE Frankston Campus, Frankston railway station and Monash University Peninsula Campus and Monash University Clayton Campus. Passengers can board and disembark at any PenBus bus stop along the journey.
The Shire will keep users informed of its continued negotiations and will notify users immediately when and if a sustainable solution is found.

Interesting the limited stops 887 timetable is also timed perfectly for CBD commuters working 9 to 5! I look forward to seeing the timetable once released.

Re: Mornington Peninsula 'Penbus' timetables
PTV have announced two additional 887 services starting 5 June, with a 05:57 service ex Rosebud & 19:06 ex Monash Uni Peninsula Campus. The timetable however then finishes three weeks later with the end of semester one.
The former PenBus timetable (with trips continuing through to Monash Uni Clayton Campus) was designed to be spaced between the university-funded shuttle operated by Quinces, providing a combined hourly headway at times.
When PenBus became the 887 last year, there was no longer a trip for Clayton campus students arriving for 8am classes or leaving around 6pm. Naturally this caused complaints, as the alternative (train to Ormond & then 630) takes about twice as long, even longer for students residing on the peninsula once factoring in 788 connections.
Presumably the university is responding by adding additional services to the inter-campus shuttle, but there is no indication on the online timetable page yet.
