Tasmanian Bus Observations - JUL > DEC 2015
Bit slow starting this post, but here it is nonetheless. All interest is on Melbourne with the BusVic Bus Show & Conference, so maybe something NEW may filter through to Tassie in upcoming weeks. Apparently, the NEW Melbourne Airport Parking buses are starting to arrive, so Metro's 2nd hand buses will enter the state in future weeks Metro's Network Review is underway, public input is invited via Metro website. http://www.metrotas.com.au/alerts/hobar ... rtunities/

I know this is a bit late advising, but those interested in STEAM TRACTION engines, there is a "extravaganza" being held at Tasmanian Transport Museum THIS SUNDAY 19th. 5 steam powered engines, with commemorate the 1st journey (150yrs ago) then travel from Bellerive to the Museum, taking about 3hrs LOTS of chances for photos enroute, and steam TRAINS are operating at the museum on the day. Chris, the 310hp M.A.Ns are the ARTICS, the 280hp is rigid. 2009 models, with 1 x 2010. The Scania rigids are STILL coming, just slowly. NOW Melb Airport Parking AND Skybus are taking delivery of new buses, we'll start taking delivery of ours.

Tasmanian Bus & Coach Society NEWS update: The annual AGM for the TBCS will be held this Sunday (30th Aug) @ Brighton Hotel. In order to VOTE, members MUST be financial for the 2015/16 year. Best of luck to all the nominees. Mark Dunsby has kindly put together a selection of photos from the TBCS Annual tours since 2010. This will be played on the big screen, whilst the group partakes in an enjoyable counter lunch.
As President, I'd like to thank everyone associated with the Society over the previous year for their assistance, generosity and commitment. Especially the Tasmanian OPERATORS whom endure our presence, year after year I look forward to seeing as many members as possible on Sunday, and thank you to those that have made their apologies.
The TBCS RAFFLE that members have been selling tickets over recent months, will be drawn on Sunday and results will be published in the Mercury newspaper, as well as TBCS Member email/newsletter. If you haven't renewed for the year, Sunday is the cut-off, from then on, you will be assumed as not renewing, and deleted from emails, events, member social media.

Re: Tasmanian Bus Observations - JUL > DEC 2015
Well the TBCS elections have been run & won. Congratulations to the incoming committee. Other announcements are that Metro TAS have donated the oldest STILL operating Govt bus (706 Volvo B10M/PMC) into preservation with the Society. We cannot save everything, but it's great that Metro see the potential the Society have to preserve our transport history in this state. Next step. . . . ACCOMMODATION for our "fleet" Any millionaires out there with empty sheds

Congratulations on the donation of 706! That will be two artics (one private) under the TBCS banner now, is that correct?
I sympathise with your struggle to establish a permanent home. At least you are not restricted to rail served sites like one of my groups!

TassieLink #17 and #18 (MAN 18.310 CB60 Mk IIs) are living in Hobart (#17 in Geeveston) for the moment. Heard rumours #35 and #36 Scanias may go up north if they stay down here. #36 is currently living in Launceston.

The offenders are believed to have gained entry by cutting a wire fence.
Unusually, they've used domestic paint rollers.
