Kogarah used to as well (frequenter services) but then Gladys happened

You can walk to Rockdale in half that. (There's also route 400 (& 410?), though you'd want online access to check real-life times.)neilrex wrote:if you live at Banksia you wouldn't even be able to access minor services such as a bank, supermarket or pharmacy within 30 minutes.

20 minutes frequency on the 400 isn't much better

Re: NSW Railway Observations - January to June 2018
Places like Asquith to Berowra get a 30 minute North Shore service from 6am to 10pm with no difference between peak and off peak, but only an hourly Central Coast service early morning and late night.Daniel wrote: Just to qualify, that is only between 10am and 2.30pm and later at night. 10 min frequency during peak. But it is a fair point , same goes for Arncliffe.
The Anzac day timetable is really interesting too. No North Shore trains from Berowra to the Dawn Service and the additional CCN trains run via the North Shore stopping at all stations except Berowra, Mt Kuringai, Mt Colah and Asquith. The only 4 skipped stops between Newcastle and Central! Someone in train planning really doesn't like those stations...
Re: NSW Railway Observations - January to June 2018
As a daily commuter from Mt Colah I can attest to this. Seems abit out of proportion that we only get 30min peak services. Some mornings when school is on it feels like you can barely find an empty spot to stand on the platform for the 739am and 809amandy_centralcoast wrote:Places like Asquith to Berowra get a 30 minute North Shore service from 6am to 10pm with no difference between peak and off peak, but only an hourly Central Coast service early morning and late night.Daniel wrote: Just to qualify, that is only between 10am and 2.30pm and later at night. 10 min frequency during peak. I think a Northern Line train will be servicing those stations for Anzac Dawn Service.andy_centralcoast wrote:Places like Asquith to Berowra get a 30 minute North Shore service from 6am to 10pm with no difference between peak and off peak, but only an hourly Central Coast service early morning and late night.Daniel wrote: Just to qualify, that is only between 10am and 2.30pm and later at night. 10 min frequency during peak. I signed a petition circulating in Nowra shops today for electrification of the line to Bomaderry. It's aiming to have the 10,000 signatures needed for parliament. Much was said by the people touting the petition about the slow journey time on the south coast line. They don't seem to have drawn the link that the electric trains are the principal agent of that slowness!

Gotta love the consistency. This weekend CCN trains are using the suburban platforms at Central (16-18), extending as a passenger service to North Sydney after Central and stopping at all stations. However in the return direction back to Wyong/Newcastle they are running empty to Central (even though they're timetabled to take 2 mins longer from North Sydney to Central than a service stopping all stations).

Chatswood is getting new ticket gates installed. The sign says it should be completed in June.

The trip planner for Berowra to Wynyard says to get a train in the opposite direction to Cowan and change there for the CCN back to Wynyard that skips Berowra!Mr Twig wrote:I think a Northern Line train will be servicing those stations for Anzac Dawn Service.andy_centralcoast wrote:

Re: NSW Railway Observations - January to June 2018
Those Dawn services makes no sense - you're right someone doesn't like the stations between Hornsby and Berowra. Not only do they have to send an empty train up to Berowra to begin the trip, it makes Berowra - Hornsby passengers either have to change trains at Hornsby or extends their journey time by 15 min if they choose to stay on the northern line train.andy_centralcoast wrote:The trip planner for Berowra to Wynyard says to get a train in the opposite direction to Cowan and change there for the CCN back to Wynyard that skips Berowra!
Also it looks like there's a mistake with the timetable information, showing the 11.47pm and 12.47am trains late Tuesday night as skipping Asquith, Mt Colah and Mt Kuringgai. On Wednesday night it is showing North shore lines trains servicing Berowra late night instead of Central Coast line trains - maybe they forgot to update the Anzac day timetable to account for the changes made a couple of months ago cutting T1 late night trains to Berowra.

Those changes were done without being announced, so quietly that even the team putting together the Anzac Day timetable didn't remember!?Frodo wrote:Also it looks like there's a mistake with the timetable information, showing the 11.47pm and 12.47am trains late Tuesday night as skipping Asquith, Mt Colah and Mt Kuringgai. At least someone has realised the mistake, the 11.47pm CCN train is now showing on TripView as a modified service with additional stops at Asquith, Mt Colah and Mt Kuringai.
Maybe they'll get added tomorrow morning as well for the dawn service train?

Has there been more cuts to weekend services? Last T1 train going through to Berowra tonight is the 8:45pm from Central (9:37pm from Hornsby).Frodo wrote:On Wednesday night it is showing North shore lines trains servicing Berowra late night instead of Central Coast line trains - maybe they forgot to update the Anzac day timetable to account for the changes made a couple of months ago cutting T1 late night trains to Berowra.
Re: NSW Railway Observations - January to June 2018
This weekend has seen T1 Epping services slashed in half to accommodate for the 6 tracks becoming 2 between Strathfield & Mac'town.
Re: NSW Railway Observations - January to June 2018
So, could they have the T1 Western Line trains stopping at Burwood to compensate for the loss of those T1 Epping and and T2 locals (i.e. 6 trains per hour)? No, that would just be too obvious and too hard for these guys.

Re: NSW Railway Observations - January to June 2018
Is that new? I don't remember services being cut during previous trackwork configurations where only 1 set of tracks were open between Strathfield and Redfern.
Re: NSW Railway Observations - January to June 2018
Usually inner west trains are cut followed by South Line trains. Mathematically speaking services would have to be cut if there only a single pair as under the current weekend timetable as between Redfern & Strathfield 8tph local, 10tph suburban & around 4tph on the mains.
Re: NSW Railway Observations - January to June 2018
But nowhere was T1 Epping services as frequent.andy_centralcoast wrote:Is that new? I don't remember services being cut during previous trackwork configurations where only 1 set of tracks were open between Strathfield and Redfern.
Since T2 Leppington trains now stop at Burwood, they haven't slowed the T1 Western services any further.

One whole service per week at some stations! Hardly worth wasting the electrons.

Plus looking at the stats, the fact that the services have also dramatically increased in many regards.Tonymercury wrote:One whole service per week at some stations! Hardly worth wasting the electrons.

Re: NSW Railway Observations - January to June 2018
Whatever happened to reinstating Redfern as a stop for some Blue Mountains peak services?
Collins announced it in early March. Quoted as saying: “We understand it’s more convenient for some Blue Mountains services to stop at Redfern, so we’ve made the change for a number of key services.” The changes will be implemented as soon as possible following briefing of operational staff.
Almost 2 months later and nothing.
