Re: STA Observations - December 2017
Heres a good one, sadly I didnt get a photo because I zoomed right by on my metrobus, but at Wynyard today during the arvo peak.
353* (not sure of the EXACT number) Mercedes Benz O4O5 CC516 was on a route 294, finished a service from Macquarie Uni to Wynyard and was siting outside the York Street entrance to Wynyard station! Quite something seeing that, especially with the physical roll-film displaying the route and desto, which we haven't seen since the Mark V's retired - I thought I was imagining it for a sec! I checked NextThere and sure enough thats what did operate on 294 today.
Thats this bus for quick reference - https://i.ytimg.com/vi/zTKAiqzZYvs/maxresdefault.jpg (not my photo)
Unless im mistaken I thought these were restricted to school services? Or was this really a one-off? Not that im complaining (though I do feel sorry for the poor sods that travelled on it today if its not air-conditioned)

... so nothing in pale blue and white ...as in livery of later Leopards and Atlanteans??
There's something ironic in that this is the Government that is hell bent on eradicating the STA,
and here we have them helping celebrate the wonderful organisation that they hold in contempt !!

Suspect the special liveries are an STA response to the threatened privatisation - try and build a bit of loyalty and attachment to the concept of government buses in Sydney? There's something ironic in that this is the Government that is hell bent on eradicating the STA,

I am sad to see the morons have started graffitying the new MAN DD's - it is just such a shame, these people are a total waste of space and our court/punishment system is a total joke!!

Re: STA Observations - December 2017
I was waiting at Macquarie Centre Stand D around 4:15pm today for an Epping-bound 291 service, when 1651, a 'MCMAHONS POINT 291' drove past on Herring Road, and round the horseshoe ramp before slightly overshooting Stand D and stopping. While the bus was stationary, the driver tinkered with the desto and changed the desto to 'EPPING 291' Judging by NextThere, which said that this service was indeed an Epping 291 service, I got on, and the driver reassured the other confused passengers that this service would be going to Epping.
I guess that's quite a long way from McMahons Point to Macquarie Centre to realise you've been showing the wrong direction's desto along the whole route!

Re: STA Observations - December 2017
Not uncommon, people get on a bus just based on the route number displayed, without ever reading the actual destination. Drivers rarely tell the passengers when they do update the sign.
It's real bad when the incorrect route number is displayed as well.

From what I've been told, there is a bus that will be painted into PTC Blue and White. I don't know what the fleet number is or if this livery is confirmed.stajourneyman wrote:... so nothing in pale blue and white ...as in livery of later Leopards and Atlanteans??

I'd like to see them feature one of those or an ABC Driving school transfer.stajourneyman wrote:... the (crooked) Mansours ad on the front ...it's genuine!

Route 487, (Bankstown - Canterbury via Roselands) is usually operated by Kingsgrove, however this morning the 11:00am service from Bankstown was operated by 4827, Tempe bus Custom Coaches B12BLE CB60

People here criticise the Mercedes Gassies for ageing poorly and while I obviously completely respect those sentiments and do think they're probably headed for the scrapheap in a short number of years, we all know these recent pieces of cheap junk will also age likely just as well as leaving a glass of milk in the hot summer sun - after all lets not forget its a Liberal bus
I was on one today, a Senior alighted at the rear door. Which had a step. It took her about 6 whole seconds to alight, more importantly, like it was some effort for her. Why she didn't use the front door, I don't know, but it still just shows what a really silly design choice, it is. But I'm very happy that State Transit seems to be moving away from ordering new ones. Perhaps they(or TfNSW rather) finally got the message after enough vote-ammunition seniors complained. Either the step or the backbreaking seats (or for the more visually impaired that can't get the front seat, how they can't see anything outside at night because of dark windows)
That very interesting moment when you aren't happy with the desto font you have on a failed bus type, so you decide to photoshop it to make it look nicer instead

Re: STA Observations - December 2017
About 500+ people are currently waiting for a bus at Coogee Beach due to the Coogee Carols concert, Two Buses have left the beach full and there are no city buses for over 20 minutes! Complete mismanagement in terms of having enough buses for an event with nearly 10 000 people. In past years an extra 373 has run but this year nothing.
