Yes they will be Opal equipped buses but the fares will be rail fares so that no transfer fees are involved when changing between trains and SLink services
Can the Bus Opal readers be programmed to calculate Train fare prices?
Going to be interesting to see if they decide to install Opal readers in currently non Opal Buses, to increase the number of Buses available to the contract owners. (CDC/Transdev)
The running times for buses would also be based on the fact that the road infrastructure in certain areas is going though a massive upgrade which commenced last year. STA were tendering for this contract work.

Will be interesting to see if non-StationLink liveried buses make it onto these routes on a regular occurrence. For instance, SL4 is a good candidate to be run by CDC buses that would otherwise be dead-running from the City in the AM or to the City in the PM.

I would suggest unlikely as there is to be a shared Transdev CDC JV depot at Camellia for the dedicated StationLink fleet only. However I would not be surprised if TfNSW have underestimated the amount of StationLink buses required due to traffic congestion and others are called in to assist once things get going.

When the shutdown is over and the StationLink buses enter regular service with CDC and Transdev, will probably spell the end for many of the legacy buses acquired by both with the acquisition of the Baxter's, Southtrans, Westway etc.

Wouldn’t think so, because they would surely be needed for Bankstown Line Shutdown as well.
Labor has vowed to ditch the project to convert the Bankstown line if it wins the state election next March, and divert funds to fast-tracking a proposed $16 billion-plus metro line from Sydney's CBD to Westmead near Parramatta via Olympic Park.
So cancel a $1 billion dollar contract to divert to a project that can't be built any faster anyway. Smart.
^^^^ The reference above is about developers vying for the rights to build towers above the new Metro stations. Sydney Metro is currently seeking early public consultation about its plans for the developments above Crows Nest Station. Comment closes on Sunday 29 July 2018.
From 7News.
Metro won't open until late April, a month after election.
Also tried to wrap it into the IPART review announcement.
And then went onto suggest that premium services (they named Metro and Light Rail) could attract premium fares.. Laughable - less seats and more standing is not premium.
Is the 7 news story actually news or did someone finally do the maths on the fact that the ECRL closes on 30 September and is planned to be closed for 7 month - both facts that have been known for a while.
