Today i was onboard an m20 I was looking over a driver run sheet it was M bus & driver run sheet I happened to see one of the meal breaks was at Port Botany Depot. I thought driver meal breaks had to be at home depots or in the same region. I would have to assume the driver would use the same bus after the meal break as it M bus.
No. For a 50 minute, unpaid, meal, the break has to be in a depot or approved meal room, such as the one hidden away in P3 in SOP.
It is very common for Y or M drivers on CBD rail replacement to have their journals contain meal breaks at W, R, or L. It is almost unheard of for them to actually go there.
During City Circle rail shutdown: (weekends only) (private operators are scheduled to operate mid week evenings)
- V-Depot buses are rostered for meal breaks at N, M & R depots respectively.
- F-Depot buses are rostered for meal breaks at N & M depots respectively.
- N-Depot buses are rostered for meal breaks at R depot. (N-Depot is also used for meal break)
- Y-Depot buses are rostered for meal breaks at N, M & R depots respectively.
- M-Depot buses are rostered for meal breaks at N & R depots respectively. (M-Depot is also used for meal break)
- B-Depot buses are rostered for meal breaks at N, M & R depots respectively. (B-Depot is also used for meal break)
- T-Depot buses are rostered for meal breaks at R depot. (T-Depot is also used for meal break)
During ESR rail shutdown: (weekends only) (STA is scheduled for mid week evenings although only during the evening - 1/2 shift of rail work)
- K-Depot buses are rostered for meal breaks at R & W depots respectively.
- L-Depot buses are rostered for meal breaks at W depot.
- T-Depot buses are rostered for meal breaks at R & W depots respectively. (T-Depot is also used for meal break)
- P-Depot buses are rostered for meal breaks at R & W depots respectively.
- R-Depot buses are rostered for meal breaks at W depot. (R-Depot is also used for meal break)
- W-Depot buses are rostered for meal breaks at W depot only.
- Y-Depot buses are rostered for meal breaks at L, R & W depots respectively.
- M-Depot buses are rostered for meal breaks at T, R & W depots respectively. (M-Depot is also used for meal break)
- N-Depot buses are rostered for meal breaks at W depot. (RN-Depot is also used for meal break) * Some buses are rostered to have a meal break at Edgecliff Interchange meal room.
During T2 Airport Line rail shutdown - Central to Sydenham: (weekends only)
- K-Depot buses are rostered for meal breaks at T & R depots respectively.
- L-Depot buses are rostered for meal breaks at T depot. (L-Depot is also used for meal break)
- T-Depot buses are rostered for meal breaks at T depot only.
- P-Depot buses are rostered for meal breaks at T depot. (P-Depot is also used for meal break)
- R-Depot buses are rostered for meal breaks at T depot. (R-Depot is also used for meal break)
- W-Depot buses are rostered for meal breaks at T depot. (W-Depot is also used for meal break)
Meal rooms currently not used for scheduled meal breaks:
- Circular Quay East. (former 111 and 555 services)
- Chatswood Interchange.
- Robertson Rd meal room was demolished a few months ago.
* Edgecliff Interchange is only used during ESR rail shutdown.
I've been riding the ex 6:11 out of Railway Sq to Pt Botany 309 Saturday morning nearly every week the overcrowding keeps getting worse. Its so bad that there are people standing in the front doorway. I don't know if it's legal or safe. The driver doesn't want to leave people behind as the next Botany Rd is 20 mins away a 310 the next 309 is about 40 mins. I would accept this if it was peak hour but its 6am on a Saturday morning. FYI its operated by usually a Scania Bustech VST tonyp favourite bus. Whats worse it now runs up to 8 mins late by the time it gets to the end. Surely it would be best if it was operated by either a Scania 14.5m or a bendy.
But there's probably an issue of the bendy driver allowance. But does using a 14.5m bus incur the driver allowance. It could work since the inbound is 309 from Matraville which is probably from Pt Botany depot. Then on the once on the outbound after that run a bus changeover can occur. I swear 14.5m buses were used I was on a 309 operated by 14.5m 2 years ago on the outbound from Central towards Matraville. It use to be regular the 309/X09 be operated by 14.5m or bendies. Sometimes you might find a bendy operate a 309 shortworking in the afternoon from Banksmeadow to Central.

Yep, I have caught an X09 with a 14.5 outbound and the X09 does not go near Redfern as it continues down Elizabeth St past Redfern Oval.
They have over 200 bendies now for heathen's sake and they are so chronically under utilised it's not funny. And yet they put those over engined Toyota Coasters out on trunk runs so much.
State Transit, you don't do your rep any favours defying logic on a regular basis.

Shouldn't TfNSW already know this from Opal data?
Heck Opal data could also show when buses are unsafely loaded past their legal capacity. It wouldn't be 100% accurate due to forgotten tap offs, but would at least give an idea of what routes (or drivers) are operating at crush loads.

Sadly a 309/310 can't be operated by a 14.5 or bendy bus due to the turn from Redfern Street into Regent Street.
I think that you mean the inbound left turn from Regent St into Redfern St as this would be a safety issue due to the 14.5m bus steering well over the double white unbroken lines. Turning left from Redfern St into Regent St would be no problem for a 14.5m.
If he was so willing to be violent towards police, who knows what he may have done to passengers or a driver.
They mentioned he had a multi tool. I believe they are similar to a Swiss army knife and knives are indeed included.
Good the removed him. A shame he didn't get pepper spray in the eyes or a 50,000 volt reminder to behave properly!!
