High profile enthusiasts

Post by Centralian »

I've started this topic after reading an article in todays Sydney Morning Herald about the new British Prime Minister.
Boris Johnson was asked about a month ago what he does to relax, to which he responded as quoted:
"I make, I have a thing where I make models of, when I was mayor of London we built beautiful........ I make buses".
The article goes on to state how he explained his method of turning boxes into model buses.
I'm sure the Ian Allan 'Buses' magazine will pick up on this.
Which then got me thinking, what other high profile bus or train enthusiasts do we know of.
I recall Rod Stewart was/is a model railway enthusiast.

Tim Fischer, who served as the Deputy Prime Minister of Australia between 1996 and 1999, as well as leader of the National Party between 1990 and 1999, is well known for being a rail enthusiast. I actually travelled on a special tour train in the Riverina organised by him just last weekend.
