I was double parking for a second (I know, bad) to drop a friend off and while I was looking in my rear view mirror to make sure no one was coming while I stopped, there was this really bad car accident.

A Subaru was clipped by a ute which was entering the roundabout without giving way, which sent it over a road divider, causing it to jump over a second gutter and into a wall. It then ricocheted off the wall into a tree. Some guy on the corner was talking on the phone (visible in the video as I went around the roundabout seconds before the accident), so he had a close call, but, everyone was OK despite the severity of the impact.

I'm glad that little incident didn't result in any major casualty-related dramas

Latest stuff from Carsguide:
-Jaguar's celebrating the D-Type's 60th anniversary with its special "Project 7" F-Type (named after Jaguar's 7 Le Mans titles). Will cost $300,000 and has 423 kW & 680 Nm on hand; it can hit 100 in 3.9 seconds and maxes out at an electronically limited top speed of 300 km/h coupled to an eight speed box. Only 300 are being built and Jaguar Australia's attempting to negotiate the sale of a small batch here.
-Jeep are selling Cherokees for $10,000-in a remote location.
-Holden are AGAIN recalling their VF Commodores-this time it's the windscreen wipers.
-And, the Suzuki Alto GL has been declared the most affordable car to run by Victoria, South Australia, Tassie and Queensland.

In defense of the nervous driver who stopped perhaps the experienced driver who was behind him was a bit close.

Not everybody is a 100% driver and it doesn't hurt to make allowances for those who obviously are a bit overly cautious.

The big problem is that in NSW L platers were limited to 80kph so they never learnt how to merge onto an expressway properly.

PS. Although the limit is now 90kph it still stops learners from learning how to merge properly and I had to recently say to a learner bugger the law go, go, go.

I actually was referring to cars entering an expressway with me already on it.
I did see a video one night when a police car was hooning along when a young girl tried to change to the right lane and he had the hide to get up her when he was the idiot going too fast.

The XR8 Falcon's coming back-although not for long as Ford are still not changing their mind about shutting up shop here.

Yes, it is going to use a variant of the 'Stang engine (5-litre Coyote V8).
Yes, it will be part of the revised Falcon range when that goes on sale towards the end of the year.
And there is a new fascia for the Falcon range, although the front and back are still in their masking.

Dutchie Max Verstappen is becoming the youngest F1 driver in history, at 16 years of age when he joins Toro Rosso next year. And he isn't old enough to drive a car in his native Netherlands.

I'd say to him "go for it", but I'm still a bit concerned over how a 16 year old can handle a car capable of 300 km/h plus speeds. Thank god Formula One doesn't run on the deadly Nordschleife track anymore, or we'd probably see another Lauda incident.

He'll be 17 when he starts driving... And yes motorsport can be dangerous, but safety in F1 has dramatically improved since the death of Ayrton Senna almost 20 years ago.

I agree with you there... one thing that's always on the FIA's agenda with every rule revision is safety-that's why they banned turbochargers in the first place and didn't allow them again until they brought in the new 1.6 L formula.

But sometimes the FIA brings in new rules to make racing something that relies on driver ability-for example when they banned driver aids (traction control, ABS, launch control etc) from the 1994 season onwards, and then chased up Benetton (then one of the best Formula One teams around) for it because Michael Schumacher supposedly was using traction control and used an illegal fueling device.

Looks like it might be based off a new version of the Opel Insignia sedan, which unfortunately didn't last long in this market.
Either way, German engineered vehicles are always seen as very high quality compared to Chinese gear, so I think Holden's moving in the right direction.

LCT might be gone soon, but the Government wants clunker cars to not show up on our shores. Looks like my plans to import a Suzuki Alto Works might have failed...

My brother has a camry hybrid that has those stupid fog lights on and I told him to turn them off but he said there is not a switch and they come on automatically.

I have tried to find out if there is a switch but to no avail, does anyone here know if there is one or if they can be turned off on the menu.
