South Pacific; buses in Noumea, Vila, Suva and Lautoka

Post by Paul_Nicholson »

In the coming school holidays I'm taking a cruise that will visit:

Noumea (New Caledonia)
Lautoka (Fiji)
Suva (Fiji)
Vila (Vanautu)

I'd appreciate any advice on what there is of bus interest in each of these places. I've never been to the area before.

There seems to be little posted on the internet so any "gen" would be appreciated.

It is not a hardcore bus enthusiast holiday but I would enjoy the opportunity to ride a few local buses.

I went to Noumea quite a few years ago, there was a network of suburban buses, mainly minibuses sourced from Europe. Larger midi-buses buses were used on inter-city runs. A few coaches for charter and sightseeing.

No doubt things have improved since then.
