So does this mean that articulated buses will be able to take on a bit more passenger capacity than their present artificially low figures?

I believe is only rigid.

The beneficial will be the conventional double decker chassis with two axles at rear like Volvo B9TL, B8L, Scania K320UD etc

My memory they are allowed up to 26t

Whilst it is good to hear of gross weights increasing, our allowances still remain too restrictive - so an artic is allowed to gross only 4 more tonnes than a rigid - totally draft!

We all know that the big destroyers of roads are semi's (B-Doubles & Triples, Road Trains etc.) with those fixed tri-axle set-ups that really scrub on the road surface during turns, not to mention the fact overloading still prevails, as does poor maintenance, as shown by a recent police blitz in SA.
