Most Amount of users

Post by PRT 065 »

Hi all ,
Is it just me or is the statistics on the bottom of the main page changed.
As it now says most users online 80 when it used to be 303 .
is it possible to get a explanation on what has happened

Thank you ,

It also looks as if a clean up of members has occured. So that bother 123 members may no longer be active or be spammers or Search Engines.
Payback is a bitch, but is fun to watch.

The clean up of members has been happening progressively since July last year.

Every Saturday 20 members who have not posted any messages (other than in the lunch room) and who have not been active for more that 12 months have been sent a message to reactivate themselves. If they have not done so by the next Saturday, they are deleted. On the average about 2 out of the 20 reactivate with the rest being deleted.

So we are probaly getting close to 1000 such members who have been deleted that way in the past 11 months or so.

I did a check yesterday and after yesterday's lot or deactivations/forced reactivations, there are still about 100 to be done.

So I am sure at this stage whether I am going to use any other criteria afer that or whether I will leave it at just checking every week to see whether anyone stopped being active during the matching week 12 months earlier.

So far not a single complaint has been received about this clean up.

One thing that has surprised me is that most people who reactivate, still have NOT visited the board after reactivation.

I believe the number has been reset. As previously explained, the 303 is not a valid number of actual users online, as the number includes search engine 'bots' which appear at random as numerous different users at the same time.
