Forum Hosters

Post by friskybear »

Hello everyone,
I am thinking of making my own forum/message board about a variety of things, and I was just wondering whether anyone here knew of any, preferably free, forum providers.

I would prefer one that doesn't need me to have a domain nor one that requires me to download excessive amounts of stuff for it to work (cough SMF cough).

If you know of any, I would really appreciate it if you told me.

Thanks in advance

1. Get a free PHP/MySQL web hosting account - many are available, http://www.tripod.lycos.co.uk comes to mind and you don't have to be a pom to sign up for it.

2. Download phpBB

3. Upload and install it

4. Enjoy

5. Get a moderator to move this to the proper forum

I clearly stated 2 things in my post:
1) I don't want to download anything
2) I don't want to have to have a domain

Thankyou for your suggestion but I don't trust companies having suspicious files on my computer thank you very much.

You sort of need a domain...

Jconserv is an American based 'Free Forum Hosting' provider. They're pretty good. Check it out at http://www.jconserv.net

It doesn't work like that.

Is the problem that you might have to pay for something? Or that you might hit your download limit?

Either way, if you want to have your own forums you have to do one or the other.
