Calabros Atlantean
Calabros, a name you're familiar to, I read up on them and was really facinated by their operations and aquisitions, Im really surprised Trux never produced any of their models, I got this cheap atlantean (Melbourne after dark) and got it sprayed white, got the decals printed off on waterslide transfer after several attempts, and think its a good representation of the Calabros ex Sydney Atlantean. The problems I have is trying to get a decent destination to print off, otherwise I think its pretty good!

Re: Calabros Atlantean
sadly, the weathers crap today here, very cloudy and drizzle so this is the best outdoor pic possible, I'll do more in better weather soon but hope it stirs up fond memories for anyone who knew the interesting background to Calabros. A really interesting fleet and a bit of everything.

Re: Calabros Atlantean
They are building buses for the NSW government, so you could say it has come full circle ( I think lol).
Can't believe it took someone on the other side of the globe to get the motivation to do something like this.
You even added passengers! You have set the bar high my friend.
Shooting it with the actual sky in the background is very effective.
I thought it was real at first.

Re: Calabros Atlantean
If you are purely talking about the ex UTA Atlanteans, that information can be obtained from the disposal list http://fleetlists.busaustralia.com/stad ... search=LAP
I dont think too many other Atlanteans operated in Sydney but quite a few operated with country operators but that information is harder to obtain.

Re: Calabros Atlantean
Hey Wyth, have you thought of applying the NSW Public Transport logo or the L7 on the blue Atlantean?
One thing that annoyed me about that model was the absence of either.

Re: Calabros Atlantean
I think all had only a smattering of ex PTC Atlanteans.
Interline had at least four in the early 90s. I saw them!

Re: Calabros Atlantean
Were there eager buyers upon their mostly premature disposal?
Were they sold off by the government at a price point that reflected their realistic market value?

I think you might mean all up 17 over the depots , I know 4 were in Morisset colours, SVC had an old english thing and TBS many .LB608 wrote:Toronto Had 17 of there own, plus Morisset Bus Service & Sugar Valleys.

No the disposal list shows 17 with Toronto some of which came from Morisset and SVC. But 1156 and 1194 are at least two others which are shown as having been with Morisset although Morisset may have been owned by Toronto at the time so in total there were at least 19.

Re: Calabros Atlantean
It was a confusing place , Morisset did end up with a lot of TBS Deckers , some for weeks , some for months , Morisset high teachers driving , running from TBS yard to Morisset , would leave vehicles at Morisset yard for servicingFleet Lists wrote:No the disposal list shows 17 with Toronto some of which came from Morisset and SVC. during the day and could end up driving anything back. They did have a dedicated 4 deckers in their MBS colours for many years , and when these were disposed of replaced with the remaining TBS deckers.
SVC had no deckers when TBS took over , and I don't think Morisset did either before TBS ownership , it was a good day when the last decker was towed from the TBS yard.
