I received my Volvo today from Transmac in the Uk No 1493 /1800

Slightly 'off direct topic'....but I have the model of 1275, received about 2-3years ago. Iys 'boxed' and in its original cardboard cover. It never sat 'in the sun' but the plastic case is showing signs of severe fading and is about half the clearness of the new 4805 case.

Anyone have similar issues..... detracts fomr th model now.

Where have you been keeping the O405NH - in full sun??

Even the Creative logo on the box has faded..... no wonder the perspex has gone off.

As I initially said.....this model has NEVER...repeat NEVER been the sun....or in a room facing a window etc.

I have decades of experience with models (Im in my 60's) and I clearly know whats sensable and whats not with models......
This model has MOSTLY since purchase been in a cupboard or another box as I have moved houses.

I have no idea why the fading has occurred...thst why I asked "Has anyone else had the same experience?"

Re fading perspex..

A bit of Googling shows that perespex - or polymers - degrade with UV light....and as NZ has a high UV level.....say no more...

That discolouration on the red especially can only be from sunlight exposure.

Ribble, why have you got 'in the sun' in single quotes, if you claim that it hasn't been in the sun? This suggests to me, that it has been in the sun for an extended period of time.

I don't see how a box could fade that much if it was left in a cupboard.

I repeat again..this model has NEVER, NEVER, been sitting in the sun, either by a window, (outside in the garden)...or whatever....

I have been collecting for over 60years, so Im aware of sun on models (and other things) I have NO idea why this case, perspex has deteriorated so.

Looks like this model has sold out from Hobbyco stores, where I got mine from and according to the website. I tried getting another one at Rhodes, and they've sold out there.

Anywhere else that might have them in stock?
