Volvo Artic 1697 & 1698
Volvo Artic 1697 & 1698
Volvo artic buses 1697 & 1698 have been returned to Brookvale depot this morning.
Waverley have had these buses on loan for the last few months, but with Waverleys new artics slowly being delivered, loaned buses will start to be returned to their respective depots.
The only buses still on loan at W are:
1699 & 1700 from Brookvale
1714 from Ryde

Yes, you will be happy to know that all depots will have running bus numbers. This was always the plan from day one.Ikarbus wrote:If 1699 & 1700 belong to V, then 1676-1680 which currently belong to V must eventually go to F. It will be interesting to see if we get a nice division of fleet numbers or if things will be all over the shop. (Well interesting for me anyway because I'm a bit of a fleet number gunzel)
They were just delivered this way to get all depots and equal share of artics early on.
I posted these numbers earlier, but all post them again for reference:
1661 to 1680 Mona Vale
1681 to 1700 Brookvale
1701 to 1722 Ryde
1723 to 174? Waverley
My original depot allocation email says the last 2 for Waverley are 1741 & 1742, but some people have reported that these plates have been registered with another bus company so Waverley may have 2 numbers skipped just like Ryde with 1702 & 1704.

Was it an RTA stuff up? The operator that had these plates issued would have been pis#ed off that he had to return the plates. Who was it again?Deano wrote:1741 and 1742 will be the last two Artic's for STA as RTA recalled these rego plates.
At Volvo on the weekend i sighted 1739 so the end is near.
It's good though. I was dreading having non running fleet numbers.

I dont think that is likely as even in the last week or so three more were issued to Shorelink and with the gas Mercs starting at 1100 there would only be one hundred in anay case.Hopefully the RTA will recall all the plates previously reserved for STA, then STA could renumber all the new buses from the gas merc starting at 1001...
I think it would be easier to start the next lot of buses at 2001 as I dont think any of the 2000 series have been issued elsewhere and by the time they get up to the Mark 3 numbers, most of the lower numbered ones should be gone by then.

Seeing as 1741 and 1742 originally went to Veolia's new Volvo B12Bs, maybe the Volvo or CC ppl attached the wrong plates when finalising production . Seriously, I doubt it was that.
But now that we were back on an even system starting with 1661, why not just register 1702 and 1704 on some other numbers and put their proper plates on when they come available? Are the STA that desperate to have number plates matching fleet numbers?
