Re: Reduced bus and tram services during the festive season
It clearly says the reduced services run from December 27th to January 3rd. I think Light-City Buses had the best balance of services that didn't operate at this time of year - many peak services were reduced or removed, but still kept buses running to basically weekday timetables throughout the per...

Re: [Nov/Dec 2019] SA Transport observations
I'm sure that these runs will only traverse the slow lanes that will end up parallel to the South Rd 90 zone, instead of enabling a CNG bus to reach at least 80kph, which would be less boring on what is a lousy route anyway. It's a bit hard to service bus stops on a lowered 90km/h motorway - pedest...

Re: [Sep/Oct 2019] SA transport observations
Stop 24a South Rd (southbound) will no longer be used by T721 services as from 1 Nov as the underpass will be in use. So passengers who used to catch these buses from stop 27 outside Flinders Medical Centre, who now need to go back to stop 24A, will now have to go back even further along South Rd -...

Re: [Sep/Oct 2019] SA transport observations
It appears that 1788 has struck problems and has been taken out of service 1788 back in service this afternoon on J1X services. Apparently it can only run limited trips as only a few drivers are trained to operate this bus. So no actual problems with the bus? Remember this thread is SA Transport Ob...

Re: The Random Admet Question Thread
That sounds fairly obvious, but it's a clear indication that there is simply too much excess time in some timetables. The DPTI obviously doesn't give a toss, and continues to permit all this unnecessary laying over. Is it the same trips, at the same time, every day? Speaking to a driver who is a ma...

Re: The Random Admet Question Thread
Often the system won't recognise the fleet number until the bus has started its trip, i.e. if it's the first trip of a shift, or perhaps if a bus has a breakdown then another bus is used to complete the trip, or a trip could be covered by another driver due to late running or other circumstances. In...

Re: The Worst Positioned Bus Stop
Stop 24A Greenhill Rd - North East side at Carey Gully. Just my opinion but I think that there is barley any room to get off the bus there and that its coming around a bend. Wow, that one is awful. Not even a gap in the barrier to let passengers step back off the road. You're literally standing on ...

Re: [July/Aug 2019] SA transport observations
Got off my G40 at stop 18 Goody Rd this morning when I saw 1754 go past running special before turning left onto Springbank Rd as many Mile End buses tend to do of a morning so I've figured either it's been transferred there or the shift it was going off to do is now a Morphettville shift. Can some...

The current provider of those services-Tilley Park Holdings Pty.Ltd ,t/a Buses R Us from Adelaide was placed in liquidation as from 5.00pm on 14/6/19 so these two services most likely ceased. To be confirmed however. This was confirmed by Buses R Us on their Facebook page yesterday. They have ceased...

Re: Average speed
That works out to just over an 8 hour shift if my maths is right! By the time you throw in stopping at bus stops, laying over between trips, etc. that's probably about right. Depends what type of trips you do as well. If you do lots of trips through the city then you will get a lower speed than if y...

Re: How bus revamp will get commuters moving faster.
The only problems with some of these connections mentioned above is lack of infrastructure. It's not just a case of simply adjusting bus services. Stop 14 at Mitcham has no indent on the eastern side and articulated buses could block access to the car park entrance on the western side. Plus where wo...

Re: How bus revamp will get commuters moving faster.
Labor pretty much always ran two car sets even on the last inbound service from Belair on public holidays. If the 3000s can be converted to electric, then this is probably the most viable option, since they're not due for replacement until around 2027 (the Comeng units) to about 2036 (the newest Cl...

Re: Scania K320UB / Bustech VST
My only major gripe about these Bustechs, from a comfort point of view, is that the backs of the seats have that rough finish to deter graffiti scratching, but it's not very comfortable for tall people like me whose knees touch the back of the seat in front. When they're resting against a flat back ...

With the relatively low wages per hour, compared with many other jobs ,hours worked is important to give drivers a good solid liveable wage.It is one of the factors that large companies do not consider .It contributes very much to the high churn rate of drivers in many large companies. One of the les...

Re: Oaklands crossing closure
Whilst it would only be a minimal service, I'm sure a carriage could be pulled from a couple of Gawler services, any maybe a Grange service, to have two 2-car diesel sets running to Tonsley on a half hour frequency during these 3 weeks. It is school holidays after all so loadings should be slightly ...

Re: January 2019 service changes
Obviously there would be a small saving in diesel, but are there any extra staff required to split consists at Adelaide in between services or can this be done using existing staff on at the time? If not that would negate some of the savings. It would also reduce operational flexibility - i.e. a 310...

The midis are not life expired, which makes things less of a nuisance. I too would prefer SL202s over these, but it isn't going to happen. The Midis have been out of traffic for so long that they barely survived their last brief rail sub period. Some didn't make it through their first day back in s...

Re: [Jan/Feb 2019] SA Transport observations
Big difference between ageing high floor buses and fairly modern Scanias. Morphettville put their O-Bahn rigids out at the weekend on non-O-Bahn routes so I don't see why Port Depot should be any different! Port Depot is an all diesel fleet whereas Morphettville has a high number of gas buses, so O...
