Re: [July/Aug 2020] SA transport observations

Several MAN NLs and at least 3 Scanias still with 2xxx fleet numbers sitting in St Agnes yard today, near NE Road. I’m guessing there’s probably a few more track buses sitting at Ed N than were what at Ed.

https://indaily.com.au/opinion/2020/07/ ... werful-mp/
Another good article on today’s Indaily, with particular reference to Knoll’s backflip on the bus reform as well as the ServicesSA offices, and the political implications of not doing so.

A well written article, certainly worth a read even though it is quite long. Knoll gets quite a blast in it.

Re: New Bus

And I assume totally wheelchair accessible, unlike the awkward after-market lifts fitted to Rosas and Coasters? I like the look of it: actually looks modern, and a lot better than the BCI buses currently used in Gawler. And why is bigger the better, when they’ll be used to more than adequately fulfi...

The J1X service now permanently withdrawn, and that’s probably not a bad thing. 1790 will be leaving Torrens Transit.

That’s to show that the bus desto has been updated to the Torrens July 2020 version.

Re: [May/June 2020] SA Transport observations

I think it’s only St Agnes buses that have been updated at this stage. I’ve heard that St Agnes doing some outer North work as part of their shifts from 5 July. Noticed St Ag buses with “Not in Service” in capitals and scrolling left to right on rear destinations today.

Re: Knoll faces Liberal Party revolt on bus cuts

Just heard on one of the radio news services that Liberals now claiming that it's about 500 stops to be removed and another 400 stops that will be converted to "School service only" stops with the proposed changes. This is in response to Peter Milinauskas' claim that the number of stops to be remove...

Re: Knoll faces Liberal Party revolt on bus cuts

Just because the timetable shows 37 mins doesn’t mean it takes 37 mins. The G22X runs express to city and arrives there way before the 37 mins, speaking from experience closer to 25 provided there’s not major roadworks or a vehicle accident. Train times are accurate, buses especially in peak have co...

Re: Knoll faces Liberal Party revolt on bus cuts

Lots of tourists stay in the city and for some reason many want to visit Harbourtown (don’t know why, but it’s a common question, “do you go to Harbourtown?” ). Now that will be to catch a J1 (route 1) but get off somewhere between Marion Rd and Airport Rd (which will confuse in itself) and then cat...

Re: Knoll faces Liberal Party revolt on bus cuts

Tourist? Tell someone at the Semaphore caravan park that they catch a 157 into the city from Bower Road just down from the caravan park. In the future you tell them they have to connect catch a Connector to West Lakes and then catch any of a variety of buses from West Lakes into the city. Or, Tell s...

Re: Knoll faces Liberal Party revolt on bus cuts

The 313 does go into West Lakes Shops and then continues onto the airport (partly replacing the 288 and J8 services). The only reason 314 at West Lakes Mall is displayed on the map is to show that it terminates there, just like 313 shows up at the airport as its terminus. And 313 and 314 are shown a...

The increase in length of Go Zones (eg 118 through to Port, 155 to West Lakes) will take up a fair bit of the time saved in axed routes.

It was the number 4 bus route, city to Port Adelaide via North Adelaide, Hawker St, South Rd, Torrens Rd , Hanson Rd, Grand Jn Rd, Commercial Rd. Arndale didn’t exist until the 1960s. And no express version like today’s 254 X. Number 3 bus route was the same but went via Addison Rd instead of Hanson...

Also trying to get my head around what they mean by headway service rather than timed stops. Does that mean that a bus will no longer have a scheduled arr/dep time at a certain stop but rather sometime within 15 mins. Will mean the mobile apps will be popular. There’s a fair bit of detail about thi...

Re: Consultation on new AdMet Network

Thanks for confirming your Fun Fact.
Then 231 must’ve been swapped over to South and Regency in about 2008 when it went onto West Lakes. (Same time as 230 and 232 were put in place.)
Although most were only 231 Arndale to WL and 231A WL to Arndale.
