Re: New bus contracts to drive improved services (as from 2020)

They would be separate contracts with Transdev required to report to TfNSW on each individually. The TfNSW owned assets, buses, depots etc would be assigned to a particular region, although there may be provision to move them as needs require as happened recently when Transit Systems transferred so...

Re: Light rail gets the green light: stage 1 UNSW to CBD

AFAIK, Transdev has a 100% success rate in retaining its TfNSW contracted work when re-tendered, i.e. its 3 bus Sydney regions, the Inner West light rail and Sydney Ferries contracts. The only contract win that State Transit has had was back in the noughties to operate the Liverpool - Parramatta T-...

Re: NSW Electric Bus Plan

I'm hoping that they worked out that Chinese buses are garbage based on the Inner West trial. Best to wait for the dry cell battery technology pioneered by Merc with their eCitaro to become available in Australia - more likely through the new Denning Element than the Merc eCitaro as the Merc is too...

^Any remaining parts of the M50 are service kilometres that should remain in Region 6 to be dispersed within that respective network, I would expect the 508 to not travel any further East than Town Hall so passengers can then use a tram. The X numbers in the 500# will be renumbered, is nature if thi...

Re: STA Observations 2020

Looks like it. Maybe what Stu has mentioned about Region 6 changes down the track will also see L23/L28/L37/L38/L39 turn into 423X/428X/437X/438X/439X? Correct, X will replace L and some X numbers will have the X at end of the number. I think the R6 and R9 changes will occur at the same time due to...

Re: STA Observations 2020

Let me take a punt/uneducated guess on the 500X one - it'll probably move across as it has more stops removed to make it a rapid route, a la Sydney's Bus Future , when the L2/L3 bus changes kick in? (and M50 is renumbered 508?) My gut feeling is that there'll also be a 500N in that case, to replace...

Re: Use of Back Door on Buses

Q. Will there be rear door loading on buses? The RTBU has met with the State Transit Authority and gone through the Risk Assessment process in regards to rear door loading in the current environment. That process has made it clear that there is no way for WHS to sign off on rear door loading, even w...

Re: STA Observations 2020

Two possible issues: 1. Putting luggage into underfloor bins requires handling by the driver or other operative to load/unload. Are they likely to be affected by infected surfaces? 2. Having a lot of luggage in the low floor section of a normal bus would pose a safety risk unless there was some for...

Re: STA Observations 2020

While I imagine the STA will already have an established cleaning/disinfection regime for service buses, truthfully, I'm surprised the Government hasn't given this work to private operators with coaches who could accomodate the passenger's luggage more easily. If PPE for drivers, or cleaning/disinf...

TV coverage of overseas arrivals at Sydney Airport during the week showed them being loaded into AAT coaches for transfer to their quarantine hotels. The 508 will most likely become a loop service due to no lay over space in the Sydney CBD.

Re: State Transit / Transit Systems Ansair Orana Retirement

There is a very small handful of Scania L113 low entry units that had the TfNSW livery applied as a vinyl wrap since TSA took over Region 6. 3842 was returned to Kingsgrove Depot in recent days in the TfNSW livery - unsure if it is painted or vinyl.
