Re: NSW Railway Observations 2020

Some interesting CCN runs tonight and tomorrow due to trackwork. Late night CCN trains running via North Shore: 10.48pm stopping Town Hall, Wynyard, Chatswood, Gordon, Hornsby and all stations to Newcastle 12.06am stopping Town Hall, Wynyard, Chatswood, Hornsby and all stations to Newcastle 12.38am ...

Re: Opal Discussion and Observations

As someone who used to catch a train after 9am and 6.30pm where possible, these changes are nothing more than a cash grab. If they really wanted to stagger travel, they would encourage people to travel outside the current peak times. When things return to normal and I go back to the office, I won't ...

Re: NSW Railway Observations 2020

Around half of the T9 northern line trains from 8pm onwards have been deleted from tonight's timetable due to trackwork and construction work at Central(i) meaning that platforms 9-12 aren't in use. With only 8 platforms available and the CCN, BMT, western line, and northern line trains all starting...

Re: NSW Railway Observations 2020

Many BMT and CCN line services this afternoon peak are 4 carriages only due to what I calculate as 5-6 8-car sets being unavailable due to "an operational issue at Flemington Maintenance Centre" - anyone know what this may have been?

Re: NSW Railway Observations 2020

Storms causing havoc on the system once again tonight On the T1, trains stuck northbound at Gordon for over an hour due to fallen tree at Pymble. On the T9, a train is stuck between Thornleigh and Normanhurst for over 2 hours due to a fallen tree. Not sure what's happened to the late night CCN servi...

Re: NSW Railway Observations 2020

Wonder why they don't send some 8T or 8H up the mountains instead of all the 4V (or take some CCN V sets and replace those with T/G sets) - I noticed that today for peak services, BMT services were changed to pickup only at Strathfield, Parramatta, Blacktown and Penrith during the PM peak. Back when...

Re: NSW Railway Observations 2020

The 10.50pm Central to Newcastle service (usually 10.48pm but altered timing due to trackwork this week) has been 10-30 min late every day this week. No surprises as there is very little buffer built into this run- it leaves Central as an 8V at 4.35pm, arrives in Newcastle at 7.30pm, divides into a ...

Re: NSW Railway Observations 2019

Evening trackwork between Hornsby and Rhodes yesterday and tonight means some interesting CCN services via Shore - these services stop at Town Hall and Wynyard unlike previously. The 10.48pm service to Newcastle departs at the normal time and dwells at Hornsby for 20 min, the 1.47am service also dep...

Re: NSW Railway Observations 2019

Tripview is listing a lot of T9 northern line trains from the city terminating at Rhodes tonight (e.g no T9 trains going past Rhodes from 8.41pm - 10.41pm) No changes to CCN trains though, and absolutely no information provided to passengers as usual about any alternative arrangements in place. A co...

Re: NSW Railway Observations 2019

As usual, the communication during these delays is still poor. Berowra train was terminated at Hornsby platform 1 and apparently there were replacement buses to Berowra, but noone decided it would be a good idea to tell the passengers on the platform about it, so everyone was standing around confuse...

Re: NSW Railway Observations 2019

8T running on the BMT Penrith/EP shuttles this afternoon, 16:30 ex Penrith to Central, then returned on a "Mt Vic" service. Guessing the extra T set is coming from run 107, a tangara run from Hornsby to Schofields departing at 4.37pm which has been cancelled all 3 days this week for 'operational is...

Re: NSW Railway Observations 2019

Some minor changes to stopping patterns: Services commencing at Hornsby (to Penrith or Emu Plains) will skip Waitara and Wahroonga but pick up additional stops at Warrawee, Pymble, Killara, Lindfield and Roseville. Hornsby to Schofields/Richmond services will now skip Killara, Lindfield and Rosevil...

Re: NSW Future Rail Plan - NWRL/Metro/Harbour Crossing

will be interesting to see what the contingency plans are, for example, when north shore trains are running late like the article states just a 10 min delay on the north shore line may cause 3 metros worth of passengers to be offloaded at chatswood - I don't see how the replacement buses mentioned w...

Re: NSW Railway Observations 2019

There seems to be no good reason why central coast trains cannot overtake other trains between Epping and West Ryde. The biggest problem with doing so, seems to be the chronic unpunctuality of the central coast trains. On the other hand, Northern Line customers are paying much higher fares than Cen...

Re: NSW Railway Observations 2019

The new signals on the North Shore Line have been commissioned and seem to make a big difference. I’m on 286K this afternoon and we arrived at Gordon a full 4 minutes early, and have just arrived at Hornsby a massive 6 minutes early. Edit: now arrived berowra 2-3 minutes early too. Hopefully there ...

Re: NSW Railway Observations - July to December 2018

Speaking of dwell time, the 7.54am Wyong to Central service arrived at Hornsby at 9.13am on Wednesday (9 min late) as the Berowra to city service was prioritised. It still managed to arrive at Central on time, at 9.44am.

Re: NSW Future Rail Plan - NWRL/Metro/Harbour Crossing

Also Frodo, Eastwood may be losing the CCN services but it breaks even by gaining the upper Northern Line services. Yes, not too bad for Eastwood unless you're one of those who catch the late night/early morning CCN trains (12.47am, 1.47am, 3.45am, 4.45am services) :D Also forgot to mention above, ...

Re: NSW Future Rail Plan - NWRL/Metro/Harbour Crossing

From what I've seen so far, running times have increased yet again, like the trains weren't slow enough already. Examples: Currently: 7.02am T1 Berowra to Central stops all to Gordon, Chatswood, all to Central (19 intermediate stops), arriving at 8.04am (62 minutes) New timetable: 7.04am, stops all ...

Re: NSW Future Rail Plan - NWRL/Metro/Harbour Crossing

The logical conclusion given the carefully worded announcement is that all CCN via Strathfield during peak will become express services - whether some/any will still stop at Eastwood/Redfern remains to be seen. For CCN via Shore services, the announcement states that there is "no change to the curre...

Re: NSW Railway Observations - July to December 2018

T1 trains are messed up this morning, and there is no real time data due to a real-time outage. However, service info only recently listed "Delays on Sydney and NSW Services" even though the delays have been occurring for over 2 hours - poor form not updating passengers in a timely manner and I will...
