Hobart variety - Around suburbs

Thought I'd try a few different locations for photos today, and centred on the suburbs, whilst taking advantage of buses running off to their respective depots. Around 8:30 - 9:00am saw a large number of vehicles, which saved moving about. Enjoy :D DSCN8185.JPG DSCN8186.JPG DSCN8191.JPG DSCN8208.JP...

Point to Pub 2021 - O'Driscoll

The annual Point to Pub fun run involves walking/running from Wrest Point Casino to the Fern Tree Tavern (unlike the Point to Pinnacle). In previous years, O'Driscoll Coaches have the exclusive contact for this particular shuttle. You can always be assured of a variety of vehicles and this year was...

Point to Pinnacle 2021

The annual Point to Pinnacle "Fun Run" was held on Sunday 21st Nov. Numbers were down on previous years, likewise number of buses required. Metro have the exclusive contract for the event and can engage up to 67 buses in some years. This year however, only 43 buses were used, ALL B...

Re: Tasmania's own Redline. 18/4/21

YES Centralian. #68 was the one with engine bay fire, since rebuilt. Interesting to note nowadays, all Csepel / Autobuses have been withdrawn (#64, #66, #68 & #69) The last photo of #68, shows the new corporate livery of Redline now.

Re: Tasmania's Own Redline

Well said Centralian. I too, (unfortunately) only try and take the subject rather than including background :( Interesting to note, since these photos have been taken, Tasmania's own Redline have been bought out by Kinetic Group and much of the livery on display here is starting to disappear.

Re: Merseylink Devonport

From what I believe, all Oranas (ex Metro) have been withdrawn and there's about 6 or 8 new O500 MB with Volgren bodies now in service. In September, Merseylink took over B.Woodcock in Sheffield, along with 4 buses.

Re: Tasmanian Bus Observations - JUL > DEC 2021

Point to Pinnacle 2021 The annual Point to Pinnacle went ahead this year, albeit with reduced participants. Only about 3,000 participated this year, down from around 4-5,000 previously. Likewise, the amount of buses used was reduced, with this year, Metro operating only 43 buses and ALL Bustechs. T...

Tasmanian Bus Observations - JUL > DEC 2021

As Busnut704 mentions on previous post, there has been a few vehicle changes across the state in previous months, particularly within Metro. 812 transferred from Launceston to Hobart in a swap with 892, as 892 fitted with Mobileye technology. 856 transferred from Burnie to Hobart in a swap with 899...

Tasmanian Bus Observations - JAN > JUN 2021

Well, it has been a while since the Tasmanian scene has been updated. Most information is being relayed on Facebook. 2020 saw quite a few arrivals of new buses as well as collection of second-hand units, different to the mainland trend. Metro Tasmania has almost completed their bus acquisition prog...

Always pleased to see vintage buses enter preservation. A good antidote to the mind numbing tedium of modern yawn inducing vehicles - particularly private operators Chinese disposables! (with apologies to drivers who appreciate the comfort of new vehicles). Of course, when these vintage vehicles we...

Annual Point to Pinnacle (and/or pub)

The annual POINT to PINNACLE fun run event was held in Hobart today. An annual event classed as a half-marathon, starting at Wrest Point Casino to the summit of Mt Wellington. Unfortunately, due to weather conditions, the event was re-routed further down the Huon Rd to lower Longley to finish. This...

Tassielink Transit #44 - Scania K310/Express

Tassielink Transit have acquired two brand new Scania K310UB / Express low-floor buses. Featuring 49 semi-coach seats, USB ports, seat-belts, air-conditioning wheel-chair accessible, under-floor storage, they certainly have set the standard for low-floor non-urban route buses. I was given a special...
