Re: Victorian Observations - September 2009

Not consistantly (It's only a one bus service, or hourly, from 7pm to last bus, 11pm) but fairly frequently. Given it's also the closest cross-town link in the north (to the city), it's fairly major. I thought it was half hourly Sat evening, perhaps hourly might not be enough, as you say, if an inf...

Re: Victorian Observations - September 2009

If a bus service is consistently full and seated at 10.30pm Saturday night, that suggests that there might be more revenue to be earned from the route by improving the service. Inner city on Saturday night is reasonably busy now and there's probably some case for running more services given the tra...

Re: Victorian Observations - September 2009

Ok, what's going on with Dysons 485 to 488? I've caught 488 almost every day the past 3 weeks and the validator hasn't been working. Today I ride 486, and, same issue. Knowing the machines are 13 years old, it's understandable, but can you please just fix em? 3 weeks is just ridiculous!!! (Oh, and w...

V/line & Connies

Why has V/line decided to change the rules for Connies (Conductors) on commuter services, namely Sunbury & Bacchus Marsh? According to the connie on my 7.30 ex Sunbury, apparently they aren't allowed to walk through the train anymore (since Monday). This to me poses 3 major issues: • Fare evasion. I...

I wouldn't be so sure about that one... Whilst looking through the A-Z of projects (for that Metro gunk), I found this.

Re: Victorian Observations - September 2009

It appears that Southport has ventured into the LED destination business. Dyson's new Volgren CR228L Scania K230UB #419 was delivered with a Southport LED. venturatiger got a photo of it here a couple of weeks back. Do you mind elaborating FF? The highest Dysons but is 488 (currently without a Work...

Re: Victorian Rail & Tram observations - September/October 2009

As reported yesterday, 2109 is at Glenhuntly. Today 2083 & 240 joined it, along with Brunswick's 139, whilst Brunswick picked up 174 & 2048.
Just short of cars, or is it in preparation for Sunday week?

Re: [HS] Under-city rail plan to cut Melbourne congestion

True there, most of it was removed by 1930. But, that was also one of the reasons that the "underground tram" didn't go ahead. Clay will make this only a proposal. NIMBY-ism will play a role though. South Yarra/Prahan residents will most likely arc up, along with North Melbourne. That said, given th...

Comeng = Less tinted
Silver = More tinted

Yeah, that's about right :P

Something tells me it's 5% on the Comengs, but don't stress over it.

Re: [HS] Under-city rail plan to cut Melbourne congestion

Bluestone is a strong lava based rock, that was used for cobble stone lanes. By passageways CB60, I was refering to a Sydney-style system of commuter passageways. Flagstaff (to a degree) is one of the prime examples. There's only two ways in and out. Hypothetically, passageways should have headed to...

Re: Victorian Rail & Tram observations - September/October 2009

I would lean towards the latter, as APN can get a bit grumpy with the advertising contracts. An example of that would be 2103 in David Jones. It was restickered & ran out of Preston for about 10 days, before Yarra moved it to Brunswick. It spent 2 & 1/2 weeks there, before APN got cranky and forced ...

Re: [HS] Under-city rail plan to cut Melbourne congestion

Add in the bluestone factor (which no-one remembers, and is the main reason why the city loop is so small with no passageways), and that cost will extrapolate upwards!

Looks like a nice run on the cracklands extention, but it will remain to be seen if the 48 stays this way. Are the 11's & 42's still going to remain as one of the few oddities? Waste of paper reprinting them all, seeing as in less than 3 months, they'll reprint again! Calambeena, it's via Flinders, ...

Nice photos, that route is quite hilly which makes a good setting, esp that shot with the vista to Fairfield and what looks to be a houso tower in Northcote :P.. just one thing, it seems new to me that only Citadis trams are used on Sundays? Edgy is the only real one now, but even then it has issues. Security may be useful, but remembering that the last 324 is 1:16/2:16, with first 324 at 5:40. At 3 hours only, that makes no sense to stable.

Point taken. Virtually all they do is NSW Metro bodies (as IIRC Busways's Scania's were also from there)
