Re: Cumberland Coaches Leyland tiger cub.
I believe Centralian is on the money, my records show the same Cycles body number for m/o5802. I couldn't make the Commodore connection, however, Centralian has confirmed your bus I believe Bruce. I was crazy about information in the 60's and 70's, recording everything I could about all the Sydney p...

Re: Cumberland Coaches Leyland tiger cub.
Hi Bruce, the Lion you speak of was m/o5801 a PSR1/1 with a CCMC body dated 11/05/72, it was a deck & half body, front and rear doors (RC43D), fleet number 42 and originally from the Rydalmere depot. The Tiger Cub could have been m/o5802 a PSUC1/2, crash box chassis no: 545595. This chassis came...

These official black and white press photos have an added impact. Love the N&W Leopard with the sample of passengers and showing the professional presentation of the driver. Also enjoyed the Leslie's ex Canberra Freighter bodied Swift at Blacktown. Both 1983 shots. That was Frank and Morris's f...

Re: Bosnjak JBJ mo5115
4946 was selected to operate the new Route 300 Red Arrow service. It also had the Smithfield body alongside 4944, Western Road Transport's new Volvo B58, which also operated route 300. I think I may have transferred m/o599 onto 4946, as I was crazy about three digit plates!

Re: Bosnjak JBJ mo5115
There were five JBJ (John, Bob & Jim) chassis built with the Rolls Royce engine, all gas powered and fitted with Allison autos and Rockwell axles. The chassis were constructed in the Parramatta Bus Company's workshop in Church Street. 5115 had the Smithfield Bus & Coach Works body and was a ...

On thing I most certainly can confirm is that Mk1 Leopard 3753 was the last new bus delivered to the DGT in the green and cream livery. It is currently been painted in ex Chullora overhaul PTC blue and cream.

Interesting to note that Mk1 Leopard 3753 still has the centre door lock mechanism fitted and air stop hand still in tact, although a new O/S panel covering it over. 3753 should emerge late this year in the PTC's blue and ivory livery.

Great pics once again Inspector. I was lucky enough to be one of the passengers on the inaugural run from Goulburn to Thirlmere on the Saturday morning of the 28th. 6029 was marshaled in the lead, with 4403 and HL203 attached to the rear of the train. I was seated in the first FS carriage behind the...

The truth is Matty and I put the Merc badges on the two Darwin MAN's just to cause a stir. It worked! Our boss at the time, Tony, thought it looked good too. Not only that. our mechanic in Wagga changed all the rocker covers so that they all had Merc stars on them! Fearnes3848, is that Bootsy drivin...

Fantastic memories there, Bedford-29, thanks for posting. The 1 in 19 grade of Kenny Hill was the steepest addhesion grade on the NSWGR system. In the later years, S class tank locomotives were the regular motive power and any more tonnage than the CCA carraige and MLV van as depicted in the picture...

Hi Geoff,
m/o 5135 was definately a Bedford VAL 14 with the Leyland 400 engine. It was my bus for around 12 months in the late eighties and was the best of the all the VAL's in my humble opinion. It sooo narrowly missed preservation, being sold unfortunately for mobile home use.

Re: Buses in the 50's and 60's. Hurstville & Others Suburbs.
The photo of the early Bosnjak Edensor Park fleet shows m/o 995 in original condition as out shopped by Syd Wood. In 1960, the exposed radiator was covered up by a modern front completed by Cycles Components. Interestingly, I have the Albion Victor badge off this bus in my collection and on the back...

Thank you Bedford 29, what a magnificent vehicle she was! The Red Transit fleet were immaculate, always washed in kerosine and some displayed white wall tires, as on m/o 111.

I think you could be right GM, as Albion m/o 111 was also a part of the Prowse fleet at Edensor Park and it was ex Red Transit. What a shame that plate was never retained. I tried on several occassions to secure that plate from the DMT, but as you know, it was impossible to get a withdrawn plate bac...

Goodness me Terry, I do remember you and I going down to the farm and considering 247's restoration potential, my photos indicate August 1973. I remember the Bosnjak family thinking we were quite crazy wanting to do up such an old bus. Gardner engine, gate gear change to the driver's right hand side...

Re: Buses in the 50's and 60's. Hurstville & Others Suburbs.
The Albion with the exposed radiator Leopard 071 is referring to was m/o 916 and was passed on to Bosnjak's after the purchase of the business from Cec Prowse in 1955. John Bosnjak never knew much about it, other than it was called the "bone shaker" due to it's uncomfortable ride character...
