Re: TV - Michael Portillo in Oz.

Another egotist, in the name of Tony Robinson, otherwise going by the name of "Baldrick", has joined the ranks of rail tourist dragging along a TV crew. Emulating Portillo, his egotism even extends to a "Sir" in the credits! But I confess to enjoying his 2020 visit to El Paso, Texas, with its beauti...

Re: Sydney Metro - Tallawong to Bankstown

Why on earth have they splayed the terminating Metro tracks to align with the existing tracks AT THIS POINT IN TIME? By keeping the Metro tracks close together, much more platform space would be available for pedestrian circulation, where is it surely needed, at the western end of the Metro platform...

CAMPSIE PICTURES ^^^^^^^ - Metro's inclination to the provision of "artists' impressions" of station entrances and concourses suggests that their PR people might think that's what interests passengers most. In Metro's early promotions, much emphasis was placed on total (door-to-door) travel times. I...

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^I can assure you the lower level underground platforms at Cenral are structurally sound. (I made them so). Recent news reports suggested that the platforms could not be easily made compliant with today's more modern fire rating requirements.

Why the big "S" bend between Olympic Park and North Strathfield?
On a second glance it appears it's to get the Metro station box close to and parallel to the existing station - probably something to do with property resumptions, too.
