Re: Trump vs Clinton

Trump wins = $30 billion has been wiped off the Australian Market. This has a huge effect on the Australian Economy. I feel that this could well hit UK since the Brexit as well as France. The future of the Australian and UK economy will be very bleak. Not to my economy, if only I had the money to b...

Re: Changes down the line for Melbourne's tram routes

The map below (from a Yarra Trams presentation in 2012) explains a bit in terms of their plans, but the proposal to continue Elizabeth St routes on Flinders St is new, and seems a bit unnecessary. In terms of removing turning movements at Collins/Spencer, 12 is meant to run via Spencer, turning int...

Perhaps NSW and Vic could put in a joint order, or, operate a new joint venture???

Re: Driver burned to death in his bus

First off, may I express my complete horror and shock at this event. As a follow on to other posts above, I wish to ask, does this bus in fact have a middle door? It is surprising how many bus operators have full sized buses, but no middle door. One good thing I hope to come out of this is, it shoul...

The big rumor as expressed in Facebook this week is, #86 may be diverted to Port Melbourne, just once Preston gets all of their E class trams.

Re: PTV: Proposed bus network upgrade for Casey

As a local who uses Webb street myself, I have the following to say, ++ The railway crossing does not cause the delays. ++ Yes, there is too much traffic using Webb street. ++ There are needs to divert the road traffic. Getting traffic to use the current dip under, needs simple roadworks around the ...

Re: PTV: Proposed bus network upgrade for Casey

The only gridlock in Webb street, is when UP trains stop at the station, with the wigwags set for express trains. We have got three bus routes, and mostly they turn up all at once, leaving nothing in a 30 minute gap operating between the station and Fountain Gate. There needs to be an enhanced link ...

Re: Domain Rd tram

Also another matter that has come to my mind is, fighting for traffic at the very end of Toorak road. The logical way for all road traffic along Toorak road is to follow it all the way to St Kilda road. The tram has the advantage of not getting caught up in that traffic, by getting around it via its...

Question:Touch on for Seniors week

I need some advice in respect to the following; Do seniors need to touch on/off with their MyKi, when it is seniors week, and when they are otherwise entitled to the free travel over seniors week. I have checked a number of websites and their advice, and there is nothing whatsoever about this issue....

Re: Solve The Keysborough Bus Issue

I would have supported both the red and blue routes in the above map.

I see the blue one has been chosen.

I would have suggested, replacing the #815, by operating as the red route proposed for #709, and run that to the previous terminus for #709

Re: Free tram zone for football

Another well-intended but badly thought out plan. Whenever the football is on, the 48 becomes impossible to board from the CBD because of congestion. Through trams to North Balwyn/Vermont South should skip the football stops and 48a/75a trams only should service the Jolimont stops to relieve conges...

In the TV report, there was a hint of another major announcement some day or week soon. The hint seemed to be in respect to E class trams and V/Line. Add to the rumors of an E1, E2 and E3 class trams, I wonder if there may be an announcement of these very soon? Also, with the V/Line, we are either g...

I always put my Myki in a particular pocket, I leave home with it there, and it stays there until I return home, except for when I need to use it.

I know where it is, and it is very easy to just whip right out at a moments notice.

Re: Cheap rollingstock dedicated to RRL

Melbourne - Geelong via Werribee, would be more for the locals, such as Werribee to Meblourne and Werribee to Geelong. The route via Tarneit would be more for passengers who seek to travel Melbourne to Geelong, as I trust it would remain with few stops enroute. Its more of an express route than the ...

Re: Cheap rollingstock dedicated to RRL

One more point about the D-trains, is the track gauge. They are standard gauge, we are broad gauge. One option could be, replace the Sprinter fleet with more V/Locities on all but the Stony Pt line, and reuse the Sprinters for outer suburban services as described here. In any case, EMUs will replace...

Re: single module low floor trams - could work for Melbourne

I like the idea of a rigid bodied version of the E class. All you need to do is, get one of the end modules, add the bogie and drivers parts from the second module onto the other end of the first, and you have a small version of what you already have. It should have many of the same parts of the cur...

Re: Level crossings and frequency of service

One method to cut delays at many crossings is, to put the station platform always on the away side of the level crossing. That way, there will never be any delays while trains wait at the platform for its passengers to do their thing. I understand this happens in Perth? I do not object to the idea o...

Perhaps, one idea could be to have the ferry stop at Station Pier, on its way to/from Docklands, and not as a terminus?
