Re: [Jan-Mar 2023] SA Transport observations

It was good to see Customer Service Officers from both Busways and Torrens Transit at Marion on Monday. From the small sample I saw, nobody was really upset, and the Officers were proactive, checking with passengers as to what bus they were looking to catch. And, it was very odd seeing Busway buses ...

Re: Modified Bus timetables from Monday 31st January

Just wondering if there is anyone who may know if we will go back to full services again anytime soon or are these modified timetables the new normal for Term 1 at least. Am noticing the gaps more now with buses either side of removed services practically full and in some cases having to miss passe...

Re: Rail Public Transport Options for Mount Barker and the Adelaide Hills

The train service's can be quicker by running them from Adelaide, express to Blackwood, then Mt Lofty, Aldgate, Bridgewater, Balhannah, Mt Barker & vise versa. I cannot see how the train to Mt Barker can stop at Blackwood without some work done. Are they not talking about using the freight line...

Re: Rail Public Transport Options for Mount Barker and the Adelaide Hills

I am a big fan of trying to get a train service to Mt Barker. But I do have the following questions 1) Will this be a peak service only? Just trying to remember where all the passing loops are. If you are going to use the same line as the freight trains, I can only see minimal non-peak services to a...

Point taken. Though the people boarding the bus at Smithfield could make the same argument.

Re: Gawler Rail Line shutdown

Caught the GA3 during the week from Smithfield to the city. It seemed liked we travelled to Elizabeth and had to double back onto Womma Rd to get onto the Northern Expressway. Would it be better if the service started at Elizabeth, went to Smithfield and then went to the Northern Expressway via Curt...

Re: [Mar/Apr 2021] SA Transport observations

The song nut in me already is singing a song if a bus is ever numbered 5705. Here are a sample of lyrics from a City Boy song called 5.7.0.5.

Hey operator
Five seven o five
But there's no reply
Five seven o five
Why do you keep me hanging on the line?

I saw 5702 on a 245 this evening and I thought it may have been a new bus in the fleet.

Yesterday (Wednesday 21/04) 1791 was doing a clockwise 300. I assume then the renumbering happened overnight?

411 has the most roundabouts think off the top of my head 32 of them Interestingly I think 411 is the only route where its 15 min frequency (go zone) during the day and 1 hr not 30 mins at night 411 goes back to 30 minutes around lunchtime (from memory) 401/403 has a 15 minute frequency during the ...

Re: January 2021 timetable changes

I’m sure contractors talk to the government about potential timetable and route changes. But it’s not for contractors to make the changes which is what bigrobbo asked. I should have clarified that Busways need to go through the appropriate approvals to make any changes it thinks will help it's serv...

Yes, Busways had a large array of changes they wanted to implement. Unfortunately, everyone in Adelaide seems to be ...

Re: HISTORY of ADELAIDE - BUS, TRAIN & TRAM ROUTES

Though I can quickly tell you about why the 601 started at Henley Beach. Many years ago there was a cross-suburban route which went from Port Adelaide to Glenelg (and eventually Marino) (33) and return (34). The Glenelg to Marino section was originally numbered 665. (I think). In the 1980's this was...

I suggest that you search this thread for Routes 609 and 610 to start with. 609 is now today's 601 from Marion to Blackwo...

Noticed that the timetables are out for the week between Christmas and New Year. In the afternoons they will be displaying G30 from the city. In the mornin...

Isn't it all-door loading nowadays? That should reduce passenger exchange time to well under one minute. I love holding people up getting off the bus with all door loading! Re: Driver protection

Question to drivers - is your depot or company still looking at PPE for drivers? It's not just to protect the drivers against the passengers, it is also to protect them from the driver before them. While Covid 19 is not a real issue here in Adelaide, it only takes one or two careless people and it c...
