Re: New bus network arising from CSELR (L2/L3) opening

How are you supposed to get to Darlinghurst ? The tram doesn't go there. Actually, the CITY bus would probably cover that. The signs aren't all encompassing This sort of attitude is why people hate buses. It is so hard to figure out where they are going to go, compared to trains. This is not just a...

Re: Light rail gets the green light: stage 1 UNSW to CBD

Well if they don't step it up a notch, any hope of extensions or more lines is dead. There is no way people are going get to behind extensions or even new lines when the 'shining example' cost twice was originally promoted and is slower than the congested buses it was supposed to replace. I quite d...

Its my opinion that in motion charging of any kind cannot work. i dont mean wires or third rails, I mean the ones which are supposed to work like induction cookers. Not efficient, hazardous and the planet does not have enough copper.

I suggest a crowd funding plan. $2000 minimum contribution. When they have enough, they can buy an electric bus.

All those Thunbergites in Newtown should be pleased to put their money where their mouth is.

Re: Pull cord activated next stop buzzers

I recall a very annoying trip to Wamberal about 5 years ago. I was sitting in the wheelchair area, for some reason. I rarely do. There was only about 4 people on the bus. On the pole near me, which was "chrome", not yellow, there were two buttons, which were mounted on the pole facing away...

Re: Private Bus Observations 2020

If you said "Baulkham Hills Junction" to me, I'd think that was a bit odd, but I'd assume you meant the big crossroad where the Bull and Bush Hotel is. I can't think of anything else it would be. When I was young it had the only traffic light for miles around. I certainly would not be thin...

Re: Light rail gets the green light: stage 1 UNSW to CBD

Thats a key part if of the problem. If I want to catch the 377 to Maroubra Beach currently, I can carry the timetable, I can learn how long it takes to get from my office or bar of choice to the appropriate city stop, and time my arrival at the bus stop so that I don't have to wait half an hour. Re: New bus network arising from CSELR (L2/L3) opening

As well as being concerned about longer average journeys, passengers are also concerned about the volatility of journey times. It's very annoying to have journey times which fluctuate significantly from day to day, and that is before you even start to worry about system ""meltdowns"&q...

there is no obvious reason why it would be one word.

but steelworks is one word.

It is called that because of a very old plan to build a gunpowder factory there. I drive up it very often but for some reason very rarely down.

Even if the train took 3 hours, people still would not use it. You can drive to ANYWHERE in Canberra, starting from ANYWHERE in Sydney, in three hours. If you went by train, you'd have to add an hour to get to Central, and another hour to get from Canberra station to your actual destination. And if ...

The Melbourne system will quite happily trap you in a station, even if you have done nothing "wrong". A trip from Broadmeadows to Frankston takes anywhere from 100 to 140 minutes, depending on how long you wait for the first train and the vagaries of transferimg in their stupid Loop. When...
