Re: Opal Card Fare Issues
I used to have two Opal cards for some time, but one day when I realised I couldn’t find the second one I transferred the balance to the first card and blocked the second card It turns out I had lent the second card to my friend who lives overseas the last time she was visiting me in Sydney two year...

Re: Opal Card Fare Issues
Last week I used my Credit Card for my commute instead of my Opal Card. My journey via train in the 10-20km band, and I travelled off-peak the whole week. For Monday to Thursday I was charged the correct fare - off-peak $3.13 one way (but it shows up in my CC statement as one transaction in the day ...

Re: Sydney Metro - Tallawong to Bankstown
I would say the already opened cafe at Cherrybrook is the first retail building. I think that cafe is in the main station building? This is a good guide to the retail spaces within the stations themselves, including Cherrybrook: http://sydneymetroretail.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2018/04/Information...

Re: NSW Future Rail Plan - NWRL/Metro/Harbour Crossing
2 stuff ups in the one day! One in morning peak and now one in afternoon peak. That's a new record.

Re: Station Link Observations
Noticed that the standby former StationLink buses for the Sydney Metro have gone from their Victoria Avenue of this morning, and the area has now reverted back to its original taxi stand markings.

Re: NSW Future Rail Plan - NWRL/Metro/Harbour Crossing
The official line for the this weekend’s closure is to make changes that will allow services to run every 4 minutes. Does anyone know what sort of changes would be required?

Re: NSW Future Rail Plan - NWRL/Metro/Harbour Crossing
The constant complaints on social media since opening are that the air conditioning is too cold and the announcements are too loud (someone measured them at 100dB) and Sydney Metro have yet to fix either issue

Re: NSW Future Rail Plan - NWRL/Metro/Harbour Crossing
First test of a recovery on the Metro this afternoon. A train had mechanical difficulties between Epping and Chatswood, which caused delays but looks like the backlog has been cleared after just 30 minutes.

Re: NSW Future Rail Plan - NWRL/Metro/Harbour Crossing
Departed from Cherrybrook station this morning, saw quite a number of platform doors on the Chatswood direction have been blocked off and saying 'not in use'.
Other than that, the only other issue was an inability to close the doors at Epping for about 90 seconds.

Why do they have 2 identical boards combining the 2 directions, rather than one board for each direction?

NSW Future Rail Plan - NWRL/Metro/Harbour Crossing
I’m seeing tweets indicating there gap between trains this morning is 10 minutes instead of the promised 5 minutes. Train already packed by Cherrybrook. Update: It was back to 5 minutes when I arrived at Epping around 8:10 https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190526/46e6c5405ce6584593abb7b27d1caf35.jp...

Re: NSW Future Rail Plan - NWRL/Metro/Harbour Crossing
^great account, but did you get to view the driver's eye view at all and did the train accelerate quickly to full speed each time, over the deckers we are accustomed to? How about dwell times? In the tunnel between Cherrybrook and Epping, a) did it take long to whisk you between those distant stati...

Re: NSW Future Rail Plan - NWRL/Metro/Harbour Crossing
I started lining up at Chatswood at 10:20am, and they kept the line at ground level. I estimate about 400 people in line by that stage. 20 minutes later it had more than doubled. Gladys and Constance made an appearance during the wait and received hearty cheers and applause from the crowd. At around...

Re: NSW Future Rail Plan - NWRL/Metro/Harbour Crossing
I attended the Castle Hill Metro station Open Day today. We had the freedom to wander around both at ground level, the concourse and the platform level and there were plenty of customer service representatives there to answer questions. I stayed for around 45 minutes and in that time I saw 3 trains ...

Re: Station Link Observations
The NextThere app just posted a graph of the commute times to/from Macquarie Uni on SL1 (Chatswood) and SL4 (St Leonards) yesterday. Two observations: 1. It is indeed faster to go to Macquarie Uni from St Leonards, rather than from Chatswood, during the morning peak. 2. A sharp rise to a peak of ~45...

Re: Station Link Observations
Having checked out the real time maps on TripView this morning a few times, there are two bottlenecks where buses are bunching up. Herring Road right turn into Waterloo and Fullers right into Pacific Highway. This has a cascading effect where the buses get bunched together with 15-20min gaps for SL1...

Re: Station Link Observations
I'm no longer familiar with kerb contention in Chatswood. Is it possible to clear out other routes from Railway between Help and Brown? If so, SLx services to Chatswood could drop off just before Brown, then turn right into Brown, left Pacific Hwy and left Victoria. If you want the StationLink buse...
