Re: MTT's Strahan Street depot, South Burnie

I have just realised METRO's South Burnie depot will be 50 years old on November 26th, 2023. It was opened on 26th November 1973 by the Premier of Tasmania, Hon. Eric E Reece, after moving from the original Norton's Motors Mount Street site due to major roadworks about to commence requiring the depo...

Ships in Tasmanian Waters [Part 2]

Part 1 of this topic appeared in the TAS buses section. The post includes photos taken with my first camera, a Kodak Brownie Box camera. Burnie features first with regular visits of overseas vessels. Ships for me were an interesting subject in the 60's and 70's and it was possible to enter the wharv...

This Comair Bedford happened to be fueling at the local station in Ringarooma, Tas during a visit in 2005. Possibly Brown [ex Brien's] as per above.

Re: Metro's Mercedes Benz OH1316's [Ansair]

Is it possible a photograph exists of Mercedes-Benz OH 1316 Ansair fleet number 213 :?: ?

It appears that of all 28 units in Metro's fleet 213 was missed.

Could you please add photo to this thread if able to assist.

Tasmania's Own Redline pictorial

A selection of Tasmania's Own Redline coaches including Mercedes-Benz Oc1617/ OC1621 Hino RK260 and later coaches photographed all over Tasmania. Here is a pictorial record over the years, some of which I may have already posted earlier from this immaculate fleet.

Re: Norton Motors of Burnie

Yes I believe I've seen a photo of that accident .... rear ended a car which ended up on it's side I think Hi Darren, Not quite correct. A Morris Minor tourer allegedly did not obey a stop sign facing him when it came out of West Pine Road into the path of No.19 which was operating the early Burnie...

Re: Norton Motors of Burnie

Hi Darren, The Syd Wood bodied Reo No.17 with Perkins engine looks quite smart in these photos and it did get some use apart from West Mooreville Road school bus trips before and after school. Built in 1939, it was always beside the workshop when parked at Mount Street depot as it mostly need to be ...

Hi Darren, Have just worked out where the photo was taken of Federal No.18. It is parked in Cattley Street, Burnie outside Trans-Australia Airlines office and next door it is possible to read C.B. & John Guest the local Real Estate agent next door to TAA. So it is possible Federal No.18 was oper...

Re: Tasmanian Tramcars

Former Launceston [LMT] tram 22 was heavily rebuilt and not resembling its' original design before taking up residence at a food outlet at Rosny. Years later it was moved and this is probably the same tram now residing at the berry farm at Turners Beach.

Hi Darren, Yes, that is the residence as I remember it in 1959. And talk about 'workhorses' the 1948 SWB Land Rover parked there was THE workhorse until replaced by the ex MTT Hobart Willys Jeep. Hi Darren, Norton Motors OB Bedford CAC No.14, later 514, pictured was one of the OB's repainted by MTT inside and out [No.16, later 516 was the other]. The lower panels were retained unpainted by MTT but I failed to photograph either of them. No. 16 [516] was fitted with an SB engine and gearbox by...
