I looked at that link you posted, a month ago, and every website I have visited since them, I have been bombarded with ads for it.

Re: Introducing OPAL Card

I recall being quite surprised last year, by the figures showing that people using weekly tickets were a relatively small proportion of peak-hour commuters.

Re: Hawkesbury River Rail Bridge.

Although the coalition currently hold all the central coast seats, some of them would still be regarded as marginal. I am very dubious of the claim that there are 625 services a day. Half-hourly services 24 hours in each direction would only be 96 services a day. Add 10 or 15 or 20 extra rush hour s...

Re: Tripplanner fails

Do you have an app like Transit Times which can identify your location and advise the nearest bus stop and times of next services? No. I don't. I knew exactly where I was. I knew exactly what time the bus was coming. Google Maps, which I consulted before the trip, shows a whole string of bus stops ...

Re: 'The Hop' Branding Rollout

New bus stop poles installed on both stops at Park St city aka MetroBus interchange, why are TFNSW getting rid of Bollards? Good idea. The plinths were a pretty bad idea, most of the timetable and map areas were either empty or covered in stickers/graffiti/crap. They have recently erected two "...

Re: 'The Hop' Branding Rollout

It looks to me like that one screen is covering both directions?
Is that sign at Gordon ? If the next stops are at Killara and Lindfield ?

Hardly any trains use platform 1 at Gordon. And trains to Berowra don't use platform 2 there, either.

Re: Rail Observations - September 2015

Rather unusual and annoying to have to wait almost 50 minutes for a train to Mt Kuringgai today, due to the unusual cancellation of the Berowra service from Chatswood at 5:04 PM. I've also noticed a lot of new signs saying that there is a bin at every station. Good ! Given the regular flip-flops on ...

Re: STA Observations - September 2015

That confirms Sydney people's determination to avoid changing modes at all costs. Only the smart minority see the benefit of a much faster journey to be gained from the minor effort of changing. A train will certainly get from Green Square to Park St or to King St faster than a bus. But if you get ...

Re: Introducing OPAL Card

While the government may be surprised at the number of free fares under Opal I suspect that's because they didn't understand the use of MyMultis on particular. It has been obvious for many years, reading the submissions to, and reports by, IPART, that the Government has never understood the use of ...

Re: Rail Observations - September 2015

That looks like the display at the north end of Hornsby. The north shore line trains are normally on the right-most screen. It seems quite bogus to have an Epping via Gordon train in 17 minutes from platform 1, on the second monitor, and to have the Emu Plains train in 53 minutes from platform 1 on ...

Re: Possible Service Improvements In PT particularly Trains
You cite an example where 4 cars every 30 minutes on weekends per stopping pattern would hardly be overcrowded barring some kind of special event. Be nice to have even 30 minute frequency there per stopping pattern. Ditto for the Blue Mountains.
The current off-peak and wee...

Re: NSW Future Rail Plan - NWRL/Metro/Harbour Crossing

The thing that I have noticed with bustitutions, is that after years and years of steady improvement in their organisation, they are now going backwards. Their last two efforts have been not very good. And apparently, I wasn't the only person who noticed, because I heard the drivers complaining abou...

"Hail and Ride" My trip to Berkshire Park today went according to plan. The trip back, not so much. When I got off the bus on St Mary's Road, I asked the driver where was a good place to catch the bus to go back. He gave me a funny look, and said something about the bus stop. He may have b...

Re: Tripplanner fails

And another thing.... I am sure I have mentioned this topic before, too. Many people who need to "plan" a trip ( rather than just check when the next service is on their regular journey ), are travelling to somewhere they don't normally go. I have only a limited knowledge of the bus region...

I also looked at going to Eastern Creek the previous Sunday, and found that trip planner did come up with a reasonable plan which only involv...

Re: Tripplanner fails

So, forearmed with the knowledge that one service of route 674 from Windsor supposedly does exist, I return to try TripPlanner again. This time, I get an answer ! Starting from Town Hall at 7:44 , it says I should walk to Central (!). 1.1 km, 22 minutes, by an apparently extra-long route via Lee Str...

Tripplanner fails

I've raised several issues about planning trips with TripPlanner in the quite recent and more distant past, but I cannot find any of those thread topics now, so I am starting one now with a topic title so obvious that when I have another problem in a few months, the search will be able to find it. Re: Use of Back Door on Buses

I do understand 'Middle' or 'Centre' door will be more correct, but please bear in mind most passengers will call that door 'Centre door'. Did you leave a "not" out of that sentence? I find it hard to believe that you can actually think that most passengers will call the back door of a bu...
